So, the mayor of Cov is now suggesting that Football Mega Bucks should pay for the pitch.

He has backed Wasps since they moved, labelled it as the best decision Ann Lucas ever made.

How the fuck do clueless gimps like this get into any position like they are in? As the Mayor of the city he is in a perfect position to speak out, will he though? Will he fuck.

Strange position for a Labour Councillor to take, siding with a nomadic toff-supported rugby club over his hometown working class supported football club.

You just have to look back through his previous tweets.

Wasps were the best thing since sliced bread, bringing loads to the city, community work. He jumped right on the bandwagon while firing shots at CCFC and SISU.

Now look.

@Nick, where has he said this about the football club paying please? Not challenging it, just curious to see what he said (assuming CWR this morning). Cheers

When people suggest we just pay for it where do they think the money is coming from. If we had a spare £500K lying around in the budget don't we think Robins would be wanting it to strengthen the squad?

And if we did pay what happens when Wasps destroy it, do we just drop another £500K every few weeks or months?

When all the Wasps ownership nonsense is finally over, I wouldn't be at all surprised if some sort of "financial irregularities" are uncovered involving the Rugby club and the City Council.

Not saying there is, just that I wouldn't be at all surprised.

Yep, just keep putting a new pitch down. Let Wasps rent out for other rugby games.

Now CCFC are championship there's "Mega Bucks", ironic really for the richest rugby club in Europe.

Serious question here, if you discard the tickets that Wasps constantly give away for free, would they actually sell enough to fill the Butt's Park Arena ?

Said it at the time-no other council in the country would have sold the stadium that was built for the City’s football club to a Rugby team from London.

It’s embarrassing that those responsible for that deal are still defending it to this day.

It amazes me how some people have a rose tinted view on what really happened. Sisu tried to get the stadium on the cheap by leaving - putting pressure on the council and a charity- Higgs Trust to sell on the cheap to a hedge fund who NO OF US TRUSTED . Any council not just Coventrys have a responsibility to get the best deal for the Coventry public - because its OUR MONEY which helped towards the development of the stadium. If Sisu got thier way - and got the stadium on the cheap - WE ...the local council tax payer would of lost out . The council got thier money back because a business was prepared to pay the full amount - NOT at the expense of the local tax payer .Sisu had the carpet pulled from under thier feet . And rightly so .
I don't support Wasps or like them here - no more than anyone else . But the council - who are not by far perfect, were right to get the best financial deal for its citizens and not just for skyblues fans.

Looks like a fantastic deal for the citizens right now. Wonder how the pubs around the Ricoh feel about that deal - now and the years we were in exile?
