Shame it was only a friendly so there's no major pressure on the authorities to delve back into it. I remember Marco Zoro getting abuse from Inter fans and only being persuaded to stay on the pitch by Martins and some other black Inter players during a Serie A game.

Absolutely the correct stance to take in my opinion. Any time any racial abuse happens at a game, I think the players should be well within their rights to walk off without any fear of reprimand from those above. I've always said that it's exactly the kind of thing that needs to happen. Question is would they have done it had it been an important league game? I would hope that they would. That'd send a fair few ripples and whip up a few storms down the corridors of FIFA wouldn't it?

I applaud him for doing so. Question is, if players did this anytime they heard any racist chanting then maybe this would be fuel for opposition fans to start hurling racist abuse if their team is losing in the hope that a game is abandoned.

I'm undecided.

Part of me thinks too bloody right, if I was getting racist abuse at my job, I would walk out (after decking someone, obviously)

Part of me thinks it will encourage the morons to chant

Part of me thinks that he should not rise to it, just ignore the little racist pricks & get on with earning his 50K per week....sticks & stones etc. Best way to shut them up is to play a blinder & score the winner.

On a side note, I remember Dean Gordon getting monkey chants hurled at him by sheff Utd. scum at highfield road.....when he went to take a throw, he made the gestures straight back at them...shut the dumb yorkshire scum right up.

I applaud Boateng for doing this, yes there was nothing to lose in respect to iit being a friendly but a great stance to take. Hopefully other players will do the same, saying that they tend to do fuck all about it like the u21's found out!!!

I hate the 'big wigs' in football! If a team mate of mine was suffering at the hands of Neanderthal supporters, I'd fully support him and make sure we walked off as a team, so that the 'Boateng walk off-gate' isn't considered as an individual's fight - a reverse Liverpool support of Suarez if you will.

His last dealings with a country with a racist problem, he awarded them the 2018 World Cup.

Blatter is an idiot! Would any workplace put up with this type of abuse, no it wouldnt so why should footballers have to put up with it. It might actually force FIFA and UEFA to do soemthing about this problems and start dishing out penalties that actually mean something not £10 fines!!!

As long as there are people like Blatter involved in the running of football, there will always be the stink of hypocrisy and corruption. For all of his talk about dealing with racism in a proper manner, it still falls to those playing the game to have to take a stand. Where Blatter is concerned, it's only ever talk, no real impacting action. These are the people who have the power to come down on these kind of matters in such a way that they should no longer be an issue, and yet time and again they fail to do so. Football is riddled with wrongs that will never be righted as long as people like Blatter run the show.
