Yes I agree. To make it up when the incident is long forgotten makes no sense. He seems a nice guy when I see him on sky.

He did.

I'm not saying I don't believe him. It's just a very bizarre thing to shout out I think and especially at your own player.

Agreed - first time I have heard him speak at length when I watched the game replayed on Sky when I got in. Thought went through my mind that this didn't seem like the man to turn on his fans as I had seen at Crewe, seems a decent bloke. No reason to doubt what he is saying and does explain the incident. He did well to hold it together as far as I'm concerned. I wish these moron fans would disappear, to have a moan at the team who performed badly is one thing but to start on about a mans kids is way off limits and intolerable.

If it was in the street you would clearly tell any such person to feck off, if not chin them. But as a pro you are paid to ignore such shite - if it's really bad, like htis or racism, report it to the ref...but by the rules of the game he was out of order to send some abuse back to the fan...

Each to their own opinion but i cannot believe any one would say someone was out of order for protecting their own child! He had every right to respond imo!

It's not fair comment, but he shouldn't have reacted to such lowlife comments.

I imagine it would be difficult to not respond if you were personally associated by the comments.

I don't have a family member with such disability so can only assume someone who does have would be affected in such a way

Such is the society we live in. I work in a school and see the lack of respect first hand ... swear at your parents, then your teacher, then a shop assistant, then a bobby. You get away with them all so, next step ... abuse people who annoy you. The street cleaners where I live receive shocking insults from passers by.

It's all about context. My father in law has terminal cancer and I'm father to a young daughter and yet I can still laugh at cancer and paedo jokes but if it was aimed directly at my family as opposed to general then I would be seriously pissed off. His was no over reaction and expecting him to ignore it is ridiculous

My eldest son is a deaf mute. For years he suffered having the piss taken out of him when in pubs, simply because him and his mates would use sign language to speak. He has scars all over his body where he has been glassed and slashed just for standing up for himself. Since those early days as a teenager, he has grown both in size and intellegence. He is now huge and is off to Portugal next month to take part in the European Ju Jitsu Championship. He loves Martial arts. I can't wait to be with him if someone takes the piss again!

HH, you are rightfully very proud of him, and I am sure like many others on the forum I wish him the best of luck in his tournament.

In respect of Kilbane, I dont know how he kept his repsonse to what he did. He should never have to put up with abuse like that from anyone, especially just because he plays football. Whoever said it is a fekkin moron of the highest order.
I also have great respect for the way he retired and didnt just run down his contract and pick up his wages.

having worked on a voluntary basis with people with learning disabilities and downs sydrome i would have probably had to be restrained from thumping the idiot , thats probably to kind a word to describe the moron, yet if was personal, ............i'm not sure if I could have been restrained

As said earlier KB has gone up in my estimation with cancelling his contract and this

Kilbane is a very decent guy.
You can tell by his demeanour.
Unfortunately that remark by a lowlife was designed to get under his skin.
Whoever made it should be banned for life from ever attending a football match - he should be made an example of. End of.

I've been really impressed with the away support this season. But Crewe was full of em. Defo more than previous seasons!

His reaction was saying some words. If you've heard a lot worse surely you can't be that appalled by what Kilbane said.

I wouldn't associate this fan with ccfc. Same with the toilet smashers at WHL. Same with the racists being accused atm. These people do not even belong to Coventry as a city. I tolerate taunting towards footballing abilities etc, but people who bring players race, family and misfortunes into account are very sad, sad individuals.

I'd be surprised if there was a 'down syndrome abuse' clause in his contract.

We really need to get past this idea that the more someone is paid, the more extra-curricular shit they should be forced to accept.

To be fair you posted an off hand post. But at least this is all cyber talk. Everyone can just log off. Just remember comments like yours in real life can be dangerous for your own safety.

I understand what you meant. I just mean a 'nutter' as we have so many in society, may not take it in a conversational way
