Watching MOTD 2 this weekend an interesting stat came up that looked and sounded strikingly similar to one that often gets mentioned both on here, not having a go btw, and in the wider press.
Manchester City’s last 11 games reads: PLD 11, W 1, D2, L8, GF 13, GA 25, GD -12, Manager Pep Guardiola
Chelsea’s last 11 games 22/23 reads : PLD 11, W1, D2, L8, GF 09, GA 21, GD -12, Manager Frank Lampard
Now I am in no way suggesting that Frank Lampard, is on a par With Pep Guardiola, of course he’s not, the point I’m trying to make here is that this sort of run happens to the best, but Frank Lampard, as we all know, was much maligned for an almost identical record which follows him through to today and has people questioning his management ability.
I appreciate it’s yet another thread about our new manager’s ability but, as I said I thought the resemblance of those 2 records were very striking and worth mentioning.
I also appreciate some will say about his stint at Everton, and I get that, but it was Everton! Pep is probably one of the greatest managers ever, certainly currently, but he has always managed the biggest and richest in the 3 leagues he has managed in, would he have done any better at a basket case like Everton without an abundance of riches?
Anyway Guardiola>Lampard
