Last Nights Protest Meeting (1 Viewer)

Many thanks to all those who turned up last night - to be honest a much better turn out than me and Brinner expected. It was a very constructive meeting and reflected the general feeling of disgust most City fans have for SISU. Many contributions and suggestions were made ranging from the downright hilarious, to borderline illegal to highly constructive. The general topic surrounded the Southampton cup match and what we plan to do there, why and to what ends - to summarize:

Aim of "Save Our City" campaign
To get SISU out of our club as quickly as possible by getting them to put the club up for sale at a price that reflects the clubs current value and not what SISU claim to have invested - they have to right off all or a at least a large proportion of that. They sell up and stop this fruitless search for more investors - one weird Canadian found in four years doesn't reflect well. SISU cut their losses and sell up.

Method
Bring to the attention of as wide an audience as possible the appalling job this supposed professional investment management company has made of this particular venture. SISU appear very sensitive to bad publicity and if it is their achilles heel we need to grab it and exploit it. They have potentially lost their investors tens of millions through their mismanagement with no obvious plan as to how they hope to recover it. Message being - would you trust these people with your money? It is time to name and shame SISU, Onwe Igwe, Joy Sepalla and Seamus Coleman directly - expose them as incompetent and not to be trusted.

First Step
Protest at the Southampton FA Cup match. The consensus was for a total boycott but a significant minority wished t o protest but still support their team if not the owners so to show a united front against the common enemy, SISU, the following plan has been devised.
Prior to the match ALL fans meet by the Jimmy Hill statue at 2.45 to sing and chant their protest against SISU, this show of defiance lasting until 3.15. This will have the effect of having all the supporters together yet the impact of having an near empty stadium at kick off will gain national publicity. At 3.15 those who wish to go into the ground whilst the others stay outside and continue the protest. At the final whistle we will reunite and carry on the protest outside.

We will be contacting all local and national media to publicise the event. A flyer is being designed and everyone who wishes to is encouraged to print of copies and hand them out to everyone they can think off.

If you wish to get a downloadable copy of the leaflet pm me your email address.

Once again thanks to all those who came last night and together we really can make a difference and rid the club of these people.

This is the first step towards getting SISU out of our club - join us and SAVE OUR CITY

Considering this was the first meeting and nobody knew what to expect, well done ashbyjan, you chaired the meeting well and everyone was allowed there time to put their point of veiw across without being shouted down or ostricised if it differed from others.

I would encourage all to join the boycott or just the protest which ever your choice, there are no publicity chasing egos here just Coventry City fans with a common cause.

To those who say if sisu go who will come in, rest assured there are people waiting for sisu to call it a day.

Didn't do a head count but it was around 30 to 40. Considering when I was involved with the Sky Blue Trust we were lucky to get 10 turn up I felt that this was a good turnout considering limited publicity.

Sounds like a good plan - one suggestion: Instead of "Save Our City" it should be "Save Our Sky blues" as in "SOS" (Sky Blues can be counted as one word!!) instead of "SOC" - sounds like a police grade!

I must say after reading ALL the SISU OUT threads and posts and the excellent response to the Thursday meeting the increasing groundswell of support is massively impressive.

After all my years supporting CCFC (47 years as a ST holder) I am genuinely moved by the passion currently prevailing for the goodwill of our beloved club and the efforts to unsettle SISU.

Upset that I couldn't make it last night but well done for being there. I will be one of those that goes in at 3.15. Will there be a radio on for the first 15 minutes? Funny thing would be if you lot could make more noise from outside the ground than us lot in it.

Ash/brinner, can I make sujestion for the Southampton boycott! Not sure if this has been mentioned in any of the others threads but here goes, Southampton has had their fair share of poor owners so knows our pain, so is it worth contacting there supporters clubs/ forum and see if we can get a few banners in there stand? It would be fantastic if for at least the first 15 mins, before those fans who don't want to miss all the match come in, that the Southampton fans raise our banners and sing our protest songs to show the national media that football fans are united against how some owners are ruining many British Clubs!!!!!

In order to allow everyone to show support for the boycott, even if they choose to go into the ground, we should ask them not to purchase the match day program as a sign of support for those who remain outside.

We can ask this simple gesture of the Southampton fans too.

Anyone who purchases a program should be given the Pub landlord shame on you treatment!

FAO BRINNER/ASH...the guys managing the campaign, first off great work so far!

Just had an idea in terms of raising awareness, coverage etc..

Why dont we send the flyer to as many people as possible who dont live local to Cov but do to other football grounds for pics,

EG, I go to the "Welcome to Hillsborough sign" Stick a SISU Out flyer to it and take a picture, if we get as many as possible by emailing friends who support other clubs it will almost look like a show of solidarity within football and give you some great material to use when producing publications whilst also spreading the message across the UK.

Not to mention as much negative publicty as possible?

What do people think?

Imagine if we got all 92 league clubs covered (bit of a pipedream) but it would be amazing.... SISU out on tour!!!

I'm up for that SkyBluegilby! Maybe even write to the local paper - will, no doubt, not get published everywhere but as a Plymouth resident may be some simpathy in these parts considering the recent poor management at Plymouth Argyle

Like the idea Gilby - once we get the website up and running we can put them up there - lets not limit it to football clubs - any non Cov location, going on holiday over Xmas take a pic of the leaflet and email it to [email protected] and we will get it on website gallery. Should be a fun item and any real corkers we will pass onto CT etc.

Hi guys, great work and sounds like a productive start to the campaign.
I have one question though, did anyone suggest that meeting at 2.45 was a bit late? People will probably turn up late and it will probably start off quite unorganised. Don't you think arriving early, ie. 1pm really shows an extra level of commitment? The point of a protest is to turn heads and to go out of your way to show your commitment to ensuring something is done.
Apologies if this was discussed at the meeting, feel free to disregard if you like.
Keep up the good work.

Are the gates still open at 3.15 for those wanting to get in then?

Who are these people then, and what will they do differently to SISU? Or do we have to just trust to fate, like we did with SISU? (and look how that has turned out).

Did Brinner give any feedback on his meeting with JC? Did it take place?

Piss off, I've bought a programme for every game I've ever been to and I'm not going to stop now.

Thats almost as bad as telling season ticket holders they are harming the club by going to games which I've seen on this board before.

The idea is grand and all but I can't help but feel with some posters (not the poster I have quoted as I know nothing about him) they see it as an opportunity to show how sh*t their support is. One bloke down the pub the other day told me he isnt going to the Southampton game to protest against the club, he was your typical loudmouth know it all Cov fan. How many games does he go to? Hes been to 4 in the last 3 years.

Well done mobilizing so many in a short period of time. Hope it gains momentum swiftly in time to have a material impact on things for the Southampton match!
Link to the flyers would be useful... the Kassam and Madejski are within easy reach

Surely the true fans are the ones who care more about the long term future of the club more than 1 FA Cup game??

Think its brinner who said short term pain for long term gain. Hope people are starting to see the bigger picture now

No - we are all true fans - we may have different ways of supporting our team and in how we wish to deal with the dark situation we are currently in but the last thing we must do is start claiming to be better supporters than someone else. The enemy is SISU not other fans who might not agree with what you want to do. If someone wants to go to the game then that is their right, if someone wants to paint themselves Sky Blue and run around the Ricoh with a SISU OUT banner then so be it. No one fan is a better fan than another - we are all fans and the most important thing is it is OUR club, all of us.
