There is a way of getting around the wage structure (to some degree) by giving a signing on fee or re-signing on fee.
Eg with O’Hare, let’s say he wanted £25k per week over 3 years (I’ve no idea - just an example) but we have a wage structure where our ceiling is £15k; O’Hare is down £10k per week over 3 years (156 weeks) = just over £1.5 million.
Solution: £1.5 m signing on fee and he ends up with what he wanted over 3 years and we have a (say) £5M on the books.
oh that makes perfect sense, notwithstanding the fact it’s not that simple, if the club took your suggested approach then a) you’ve paid a player half their salary for four years in one up front payment, so what happens if he leaves? or stops performing? and b) do you not think that would piss off other players and encourage them to do the same? which ever way you label it you will have to pay equally across the team and if they see one or two players with massive signing on fees they will all want similar, then you are back to square one…
also, neither Gus nor Cal would’ve likely stayed anyway so it’s irrelevant really, and I’d prefer players who want to stay and play for the shirt, not because we’ve paid them a bit more money
I was at that Morecambe game and we were truly awful, today was right up there along with Rotherham Bristol City and Cardiff.
Totally bereft of any game plan.
Well its a mental breakdown on here!
I expected us to lose yesterday although secretly hoping we wouldn't. I sat in a pub in Brum sampling the delights of Guinness and when I saw we were losing I was thankful that the black stuff was doing its job and I didn't really give a jot about the farcical proceedings in yorkshire, I read some of the match thread and thanked my lucky stars (not the lottery because thats another farce) I never watched it...
Lol who cares about what McSheffery says, he’s just salty because of his second spell here
robins is a great manager who’s dragged us from the depths to where we are now. Since Doug has come in he’s fucked about with everything behind the scenes and gave robins awful coaches to work with…..oh yeah let’s not also forget he was too tight to give o hare and Hamer the money they should be on to keep them here
Funnily in the home win against Leeds last season O Hare showed the qualities none of these players seem to have. He worked tirelessly off the ball and blocked space.
He always wanted the ball, moved to create space as well as tracking back. Always wanted to be involved.

Rudoni isn't even in shot for any of the goals, his work rate is just nowhere near what O'Hare's was, he isn't on offer for the short pass, he isn't providing defensive support.
Totally agree, In recent years we've had players like Fadz, kelly, Hamer, O Hare,Gyokeres and others you could see fighting for everything. Last year it was rumored some of the new players were moaning about being working to hard in training. Whats been done? a fucking sleep coach is appointed. There seems to be a time lapse before most of our players respond to anything this year.
