Leicester and their spending! (2 Viewers)

They have just completed the signing of Konchesky.
So the 1st game of the season, the m69 derby, is looking like the leagues big spenders and arguably championship contenders against one of the bookies favourites to go down.
Will this add a bit more spice to the game? now that we are underdogs?
Lets hope if Hoffman does come in we can start spending a bit of money :D fingers crossed!

What do you mean "now that we are the underdogs"? We've always been the underdogs..

I miss the mid-nineties when they were a crap championship team and I had no idea they even disliked us!

I was amazed by the hatred coming from them when they got promoted to the Prem! :D

To be quite honest I will be glad if we still have a club for the first game of the season that isn't starting on -10 points and without Clingan, Cranie, Turner and Juke. The result will be overshadowed by the anti SISU protests, aftermatch sit in or ideally a total boycott of the game

I certainly would not. First game of the season, big crowd, young and enthusiastic squad playing under an attacking minded manager up against a team of supposed championship hotshots being led by Sven Boring-Eriksson. I would totally fancy our chances and think it's extremely downhearted of you to think otherwise! Let's be positive people!

I think too much has been made of Leicester's signings and in particuarly their spending. Whilst they will be one of the favorites for the League, and they have signed some decent players in Danns and Nugent, they have failed to sign Nicky Maynard and Paul Konchesky didn't pull up any trees (no pun intended) at Forest.

Come on lads wheres the passion gone? Just because our festa neighbours are spending does not mean they are unbeatable! Who remembers getting Chelsea at Home 2 seasons in a row? who remembers them being favorites from the off with the likes of Leboeuf, Vialli, Zola, Desailly e.t.c..................... and what did we do? we beat them twice!! We seem to always start well at home regardless of the team and squad, forget the business side for a moment, lets just be ready come 12:45pm to sing louder and with more passion than them festaring neighbors. We've always been fighters so nothing will change come 6th of August. PUSB AST!!!! :D

Again, not concerned about Konchesky, even when he went to Forest on loan wasn't he crap there aswell ?

Personally not bothered about Leicester, couldnt give a flying fig about their team or results, apart from they have kept the nations knickers stitched together for many a year.:claping hands:

Lets forget what leicester are doing! I reckon were goin to have a good year good indivduals dont make a good team leeds, newcastle in recent years! We have a upcoming team with ability desire and the willingness to do well for our football club! We could have 3 hometown players starting aswell first game how many other champ teams can boast that!

I hope we don't leave it until 12.45 to be ready since we kick off at 12.30 - it could be too late by then :)

I fancy us to win this one. too many new players not gelling, a fighting spirit from those left and a new attack minded system.
bang up for 3 points!!

And the best time to play a team with new signings is the first game, before they've had a chance to get used to eachother.

Was never pesimistic, however neutrals would see us as underdogs. and therefore perhaps give the game a new dimension. Oppose to in the past being fairly on par with each other, hence the draws

We've been the underdogs for the past two opening days too :)

Pompey - Last season, even though they were in financial trouble, they'd just got relegated and were expected to beat us.

Ipswich - Roy Keane was their manager and had brought in some decent players, on sky I think and they were the favourites. PVA ended up having an unbelievable match before he'd even had a training session and started the 2009/2010 season with a win.

Greatest will in the world if this situation is unresolved i fail to agree with the idea of the team being hungry and up for it. How anybody can forsee a good season at the moment is beyond me though fairplay for their faith

Why has juke gained such legendary status? All over the forum its juke this juke that. Yes o.k he improved over the season but he seems to have become a lynchpin in some peoples minds. Still to be convinced myself

I think everyone was quite impressed by Juke's work ethics which was a refreshing change from Morrison, Eastwood, and other strikers that we have had over recent seasons. What stood out for me was his high number of shots on goal even if a lot were off target suggests that he got himself in the right place at the right time to get those opportunities.

He scored nine goals over the season which for a young striker coming into the Championship for the first season is a very credible achievement.

Nobody knows what Thorn's plans are for his attackers this season and whether he chooses to push Sheff forward or give Eastwood or Platt a shot but one thing that is guaranteed is that Lukas is the man we are relying on to get goals and if he carries on playing as he did last season he should be able to reach 15 goals this season..

But without a decent partner?

But without a decent partner?

That is a different arguement altogether. Personally I think we saw the best from McSheffrey when he played at the top of the diamond and as much as I am not a fan of Eastwood I would play him alongside Juke. In an ideal world I would like us to bring in another striker even if its on loan but as I can't see that happening I think the best we have to offer is Eastwood and personally I think he has unfinished business with the Sky Blues and finally owes us a good season.
