Can't believe everyones slagging him off. He has a decent record in a team that finished 5th, who have some of the best strikers in England on their books. He is atleast a top 6 championship player/ bottom 6 prem player. I'll forever love him for that goal he scored against Blackburn In the cup... Great night.

Leon Best wasn't a bad player but had one main failing. He was a striker but didn't/couldn't score goals which is the basic requirement of any striker, isn't it ?

Oh, except for the fact that Jay Bothroyd is playing in the Premiership....mainly because he rolled his sleeves up with Cardiff and got noticed.
The same Jay Bothroyd that rarely gets a game for QPR in a side that nearly were relegated an only scored 2 goals for them he has a goal per min ratio of 550 mins for QPR in the prem

Compared to Leon Best who has scored 10 goals for Newcastle a side that finished top half two seasons running and has a goals per min ratio of 191 mins for Newcastle in the prem

Best is good because he played for a successful team?

He didn't get a look in because Newcastle finally found strikers that can actually score.

Ba (16 goals in 34) and Cisse (13 goals in 14)

Best reached 10 in a season twice. Once for Yeovil - Once for us.

What does that tell you about his level?

You guys are feckin high...

Well, usskyblue, you must also assert that the editor of the Newcastle Supporters blog is 'high' too then, as he wrote on nufcblog.com - speaking about when offers came in for Best from both Celtic and Blackburn:

'We’d be a little surprised if Leon ends up at Blackburn, since he’s good enough to remain in the Premier League with some other club'

Still, I'm sure your claim that whilst wearing those black and white stripes he was 'pitiful' is a more accurate critique than someone who probably watched every game he played.... :jerkit:

What part of the facts can't you understand?

Pardew thought he was expendable.

Get over it dear

Expendible to a Top 5 club doesn't mean he doesnt make the grade per se. You were citing a 10-goal 'credibility' level a few posts ago. Do you know how many players got 11 goals or more in the Premier League last year? 18. That means - by your definiation - that two clubs, playing in the Premiership, couldn't have had a 'Premiership sriker' at all :claping hands:

Why are you so upset?

Pardew is happy, he's found two goal scorers....and still has Ameobi and Nile Ranger in his back pocket (ouch)

...and Best is back in a league where he can score double digits again.

Everyone's happy...except you
