Surely one of our most underrated players of all time ?

I really appreciated the way Leon did not celebrate his goal. That really did show some respect. Me? I was going mental!!!!!

Leon Clarke does what it says on the tin. He scores goals. If a striker scores goals, then as far as I'm concerned he's doing his job and there is little reason to complain.

His all round game is improving with every game...the lad clearly needs to play somewhere where he feels wanted

Who exactly has underated him? Not me. Not Robins who brought him in to replace McGoldrick.
He scores goals. Has done for Skunny and has continued here. He's paid to get goals.

Are there people who underate him? Then I hope it's the opposition in our remaining games. ;)

There have been many, many people on here who have said he's;

Shit
Crap
Lazy
Not good enough.

How a striker who has already scored over 20 goals still with 9 games to go, can be described as any of the above is beyond me.

Slightly off topic here, but my 11 year old is about to do a nice charity event she has been planning for ages. I want to make a decent donation out of my donation account but not got enough in it in cash. Have layed Leon a couple of hundred on betfair at 2....evens to most of us. If he is top scorer you double ypur money, but whatever happens the stake you put on goes to a great but hardly known charity that makes hair pieces for children that have lost their own hair from haor they have donated to them.

Thanks in advance and I hope you all take my money :D

He is a weird one. If his goals dry up then he will be slated as the rest of his game isn't up to this level. Well not supposed title challengers level anyway.

But at the moment he is scoring so it is great.

Most of those that moan about him could never have seen Micky Quinn play. He hardly even managed to jpg for a few seconds each game and carried a couple of stone extra, but scored the goals he was in the side for. Leon does much more than he did but Still gets abuse :(

I'd imagine he'd be one of the first players needed to be offloaded if we fail to gain promotion. Unless we get a decent, revenue increasing package from ACL.

Not really. If its a case of falling within FFP regs or keeping Clarke, then we'll have to get him off the payroll.

So we could sign a striker that doesn't score goals?

We need to keep the players that can help get us out of this division and get rid of the fringe players. Use the youth squad to fill the gaps.

I agree with you but we HAVE to fall within FFP regs or face points reductions. To do this we'll need to reduce the payroll significantly, meaning top earners such as Clarke.

There are no points reduction just a transfer embargo and we have that anyway.

I have always been a knocker of LC on here (never at a ground) but you can not fault his goal scoring ratio. Fair play Leon Clarke.

Thought he was excellent yesterday. Only got frustrated once when Mucksheffrey should have played him in

Great Quinn comparison astute, definitely concur with that one. Has the opportunity to become a similar terrace hero and long may it continue.

mick ferguson never looked much good, always looked slow, couldn't run with the ball, pass.
yet cross him a ball and he'll break a leg to attempt to get his head on it,if he couldn't score would knock it back to wally to finish it off.
he left in 1979 and came back in 1983 on loan and his goals kept us up again and sent his own club down(brum).

He hasn't played for a couple of months when he came so was probably well short of match fitness. I think because he actually started scoring straight away people just thought that was him at 100%. I think he is now fully fit and his all round game looks a lot sharper.
