I see he`s been released by Wolves. Would anyone fancy City taking him on again?

You fellers have the advantage of me having seen him at first hand, but from what I know of his record I reckon he just had a purple patch last time with us playing alongside Wilson and I was none too impressed with the way he left. So for me it`s no thanks.

Torn on this one. On the one hand he did well for us but I wasn't happy with the way he left.

I would've taken him on loan for the tail end of the season just gone, but with the chance to start afresh in the summer I'd pass on the opportunity. There's already a completely different squad of players to when he was last here, not sure he'd be as effective without the way he gelled with Moussa, Baker & Wilson.

Plus he's a bit of a gobshite.

I personally wouldn't, and I very much doubt he's the sort of player Mowbray would want.

I do wonder whether he ever looks back and thinks 'I could have stayed and been a hero there' or whether it's just a 'fuck it, I got an extra 2 grand a week to sit on the bench' or if it was genuinely wanting to give it another crack at his hometown club

Just written about them on another thread, but yes I would take him back. Without him I think Wilson would not have had the confidence he now possesses. Clarke is a very very skillful player and on his day could match anyone, but he is lazy and non-committed. But, under the right manager he would thrive. There aren't many managers that could cope with him because he has a strong character, all be it negative, but TM would get the best out of him.

I'd happily accept goals that keep us away from League 2 even if they come from a player who threw a little wobbly and wanted to leave.

Ha really! I think Clarke's showed over his career that he's actually the issue and any chance to jump ship, he'll do it.

Yep, that's how I feel. However he is a proven 20 goal a season striker in this league, so I might make an exception for him. If it's a choice of him or nouble/Jackson it's a no brainer.

How people are saying no is beyond me, would be a great signing. For people still bitter he left what would you do in your jobs if your working for an unstable sinking ship but then suddenly offered more money at a more stable firm. Know what I would do. Bring him back he has unfinished business.

Yes. Not a rapist. Not killed anyone. We got good money for him. One season and lots of goals to get us promoted would be good on all sides. If he could score with SP as manager what could he do for TM?

There are different versions regarding the circumstances as to why he left, but £750000 in the bin was probably the deciding factor. I am not usually in favour of re-signing former players, especially prolific goalscorers which he was at the time here, but could make an exception in his case. How old is he ? If he is 30 or under with the right players around him he could be useful in this division.

Yup, those are disruptive too. But Clarke has shown time and again over his career that he's either trouble, or gets itchy feet fast.

Yes, for me.

I don't expect much loyalty from players these days, so I don't get too disappointed when they follow the money - conversely we don't treat players that we don't want particularly well so it cuts both ways.

He's a proven goalscorer, despite being a bit of an arse by all accounts, and we definitely need goals.
