tbf, I do remember a lot of us who'd otherwise been critical on occasion, praising his consistency and sticking to his principles ref: Wasps so not entirely sure it's fair to blame reactions on this board.
And if that were the perception received, not entirely sure it was completely accurate.
Good plan! It would do!Dumb and Dumber's such a good film, I'm avoiding the sequel in case it ruins my love of the original.
As an aside, has Michael got bored with the whole endless bickering and buggered off?
Show me a poster who believes that SISU are blameless.
It ain't ever going to happen, regardless of who our owners are. Time for some to start accepting that.
Why not? Doesn't look like it will happen under SISU but why couldn't it happen if we get ambitious owners. The current scenario is a noose around our neck which could be
Why are some people so desperate to see us remain as tenants in a stadium owned by a London rugby club, doesn't make sense.
Because the alternative will make it just another football club playing in Rugby.
so ether way we are being shafted by Rugby one way or another.
Funny but people were sagging off the Ricoh before all this happened, now they are the ones that are whining the most that we don't own the soulless concrete monstrosity .
PUSB.......
Why would the council do anything more than say to SISU...we have had an acceptable offer. Make us your best offer. You are missing the point. The council didn't want to sell their share to the football club - Sisu or pre Sisu - they would have only approved the sale of Higgs share for a price which was greater than the 100% shareholding wasps were offered.
Remember the club asked to buy the f and b revenues and were quoted £24 million. Handed to wasps as part of a whole package that we were effectively asked to pay £30 million for only half the shareholding.
Have a lie down and think about that.
Some may argue that anyone thinking that CCFC was in a position to make any kind of offer is the biggest idiot. SISU via Otium (&, if I remember rightly, others)...own CCFC! Had they been successful in buying the Ricoh...CCFC would be paying THEM rent rather than Wasps. The main difference is the stadium branding.Anyone who thinks that the Council would have let CCFC buy the club for the same price as Wasps is an idiot. Anyone who meekly accepts this is an even bigger idiot.
Just pointing out the potential conflict of interests in your statement.I'm well aware of that - although it's much the same as people saying they'll never support SISU going to games too.
Are you supporting SISU by going to home games, Bazza?
Presumably you are - and I am too. I'm aware that some of my money ends up in Wasps' pockets by supporting the club, SISU's too. Not much I can do about it. I can boycott Wasps rather than supporting them directly though, and I can feel pissed off that their logos are all around what was built and intended for CCFC.
I don't feel much obliged to just 'accept it'.
Why would the council do anything more than say to SISU...we have had an acceptable offer. Make us your best offer.
That in simple terms is what I perceive happened.
The offer SISU cane back with wasn't as attractive.
They chose Wasp's offer.
Everyone must move on. For that to happen the bitterness has to be dropped.
Let's all just do it!
...onwards & upwards PUSB
I think sitting & accepting it is about the most sensible approach. They could paint the unused bits in the coming season claret & blue if they wanted just to piss us off further. If we don't like it they would probably advise us to f**k-off!Wasps are well within their rights to do what they want with their stadium. Nobody is arguing that. Doesn't mean we have to sit and accept it does it??
Cheifdave summed it up for me - how many other teams go this far to prove its their stadium? Did they not say they would be considerate to CCFC because of the situation?
CCFC got shafted many times by many owners over many years.SISU got shafted or CCFC did? Either way you seem very pleased with the outcome.
RFC might...but I gave up reading his/her posts whenever I can avoid them.Show me a poster who believes that SISU are blameless.
The offer made to wasps was never made to CCFC. To pretend it's all sugary sweet and fine and dandy is not appropriate.
Since when did sellers make offers to buyers?
Since when did sellers make offers to buyers? Its the other way round and SISU made some sort of offer (at least for the Higgs share) which was rejected, as details were confidential no one can say what the terms were even if they know. http://www.higgscharity.org.uk/the-sale-by-the-trustees-of-their-shares-in-arena-coventry-ltd/

The council don't make offers in these matters...they are approached or invite offers.
The full details of what happened & offers made may never be known because they will be known only to a very small number of people on the sides of any party involved. Even AL would have only been advised of what looked the best options & the main points of why...her advisors knew more than most - maybe you were one of them? Otherwise please don't speak as if you are better advised of the facts than the rest of us...or make statements as if they are facts just because you may have read them in the newspaper or something.

I can't move on matchdays at the Ricoh with all the WASPs signage etc.. couldn't forget it even if I tried.

Are they actual physical obstacles then?
confused by that
I would much rather accept what the Council says since they have to stand up & be held to account for everything. The court transcripts stated that the council would not sell its share to Sisu. What are you on about?
We know the council to lie - building bridges etc.
The charade that the club could bid for Higgs share legitimately was blown out the water by dim old pwkh blurting out on CWR that they were selling to wasps - which then had Eastwood hilariously spinning saying "well we'd love to Peter but there are other bids"
Really - wake up

Yeah, I think you mean 'can't move for all the Wasps signage.'"Can't move for Wasps signage' ....is it on your lap? I assume that is what Otis is alluding to

On that basis a move away from Coventry due to the lack of available sites would be supportable
That's it isn't it? I wonder how many Coventry folk/CCFC fans would support the club if they moved over 100 miles permanently. I mean it's clearly not viable to stay here - just like for Wasps it wasn't. We don't own our stadium - just like Wasps didn't. What is the difference?
How are they held to account? Everything was done in secret and all calls for an independent review into the sale process have been ignored.
I presume that's why there are ten times as many articles about the city than there are about the wasps. But don't let the truth get in the way of a good lie eh
Sorry, did I mention CCFC or CRFC? I presume from 'the city' you meant the football club. Anyway, I present example one. The website www.coventrytelegraph.net. On the main links bar at the top of the page as you rightly mention there is a link for the City. Now have a look and find the CRFC link or has it been plastered over by the big WASPS RFC link?

You can vote them out.
Only trouble is all parties agreed.
Sometimes you have to admit Sisu got it wrong, left us where we are, there's nothing we can do about it (other than moan and regurgitate it) and we might as well get on with it and support the team.
I really don't get the franchise argument, it is no fault of WASP supporters that they became homeless, they had a planning application turned down in London and as a result became homeless. We had a stadium, our owners sold it, ran into debt, agreed to a bail out for a ground from the council. A takeover was done with the club being given away for nothing, so when SISU took over they took over nothing but debt and a training ground. We had no stadium before SISU and we still don't have one.
We had a chance to buy before and after the RICOH was built. CCFC in their different guises blew it. The WASPS did what they had to, they have secured the future of their club as London did not want them. Professional sport is a business and it seems to me WASPS run their business better than we do. The people of Coventry generally do not give a toss about CCFC and so we have the team that the people deserve (not the supporters).
It is sad that we have a shit team, shit owners and no ground, but I don't blame the WASP's for building the foundations of their club and by the way WASP's is a relatively new club that split from the original club and have never owned their own ground until now (I think).
Good luck to them. They have what we have had the chance to have. I don't blame the WASP's I blame the shite management and ownership that we have had to endure for ever since I can remember. I don't remember Jimmy Hill, but I do remember Cantwell, Sexton and the Sillett and Curtis days, they were the only good times in my memory and in 47 years of supporting Coventry City that aint alot. We have the situation that has brewed for years, lack of ambition and lack of interest due to the shite that we have had to endure for fucking years now.
