I always wonder how they prove these things. If he denies it to the death, how can they still charge people with these things

Exactly. I'm sure it was just a normal yellow card but when a player gets booked at a convenient time to fit in with a 1 game ban and get it out of the way there is always the possibility that it could be seen as a breach of the rules. Looking at the replay there would be no reason to think this was the case against Barnsley but that article shows the FA are hot on it.
