Dear supporter,

On Saturday, we play our final home fixture before Christmas and it would be great to see as many of our fans inside the Ricoh Arena as possible.

The club has cut ticket prices to the same levels as the night we returned to the city – a night that anyone who was there will never forget. It will certainly live long in my memory when we saw a real outpouring of affection and passion for this football club. It was a night of immense pride for me and everyone connected with Coventry City Football Club.

Of course, it will be almost impossible to recreate that atmosphere but it would be fantastic to get a good crowd backing the team in our final game before Christmas, especially on the back of a fine result at Port Vale on Saturday

We’ve talked a great deal at this club in recent weeks about making football more affordable for our supporters and I hope – especially at this time of year – that the discounted tickets make it possible for more fans to come along and support the team.

Thank you for your tremendous support so far this season and we look forward to seeing you at the Ricoh Arena on Saturday.

My advice would be don't just email the fans, get it on the billboards, in the CET and get the word out there.

Ghost written. Pressley would have said that it would be "triffic to see you there".

There all too busy peddling their shit for the other team at the Ricoh this weekend.

I agree and personally it's making me sick..

I see it as SISU desperately trying to make money until the inevitable happens.

SP never wrote that. Waggot did.
Whereas if it were Wasps it would be amazing PR and Sisu should take a leaf out of their book. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

The thing is they are probably onlyssending these emails out to people that already go.

Fair play to the club. If you engage and connect with your customers and give them what they want they will return. Good customer relations is good customer relations no matter who you are.

The last Saturday before Christmas historically delivers the lowest attendance for clubs with most opting for the holiday fixture.

The problem with the current management is they are always on the back foot they are never proactive .
what made CCfc special was we were always innovative, wasps are making them look very amateur, after Saturday there is a glimpse of hope on the field and a good crowd on Saturday would be great, the team need to respond and give a full90min performance something they have not done in 12 months

Just seems a bit disingenuous to me. I get nothing from them all year, no encouraging news or effort to garner my support, then at Christmas they send me an email. On top of which I expect the author was not SP. I guess they know Fleetwood hardly rings of excitement and many will be Christmas shopping. If I were them I may have changed the fixture to an evening kick off. Under the lights, more atmosphere, shoppers have gone home...may have been a good exercise. There's never very much thought at CCFC.

The club are not allowed to change the time of a fixture.

The e-mail which I received sounded as if it could have been written by SP although I suspect that it wasn't. It is an obvious attempt to save some face in the light of the huge attendance at the Wasps game.

If the club are to survive and prosper then they have to change. Yes at the moment it may seem out of character and opportunistic but they have to start somewhere.

It could be, or it could be trying to get a better crowd to generate more income for January, or to create a better atmosphere for the team, or to try to engage with dissinterested fans again in light of much criticism (rightly so) of their shit PR. It could be all of them or something else, who knows.

I am not a fan of SISU, but trying to engage with fans is at least an attempt at a step in the right direction.

I am sure once the novelty factor has gone with Wasps, they might be trying the same thing next winter when their attendances have dropped sharply.

If Sisu/Otium were that bothered about generating revenues for the team then I would of thought that a fully stocked club shop in time for the Christmas shop would be a good start. The club are being embarrassed into this but the way Wasps are carrying out their push to put bums on seats. Oh, and I don't think that trying to get people into the Ricoh to watch the team is engaging with fans. Sitting down with fans and explaining their inaction in trying to buy into the Ricoh, what happens now that owning the Ricoh looks to have gone and and they are actually doing next with the team and the club would be engaging with fans.

If Sisu/Otium are actually serious in trying to entice floating supporters back then can I suggest a real investment in the team and not just getting rid of the high earners and replacing them with lower paid and lesser ability players. We can all see that the current path is in no way going to get people back and we will never even get a sniff of promotion, no matter how many free tickets you try and offer.

I didnt say my list was exhaustive, they were all could be's or maybe's, and I just couldnt be bothered to write more.

I agree with a most of what you have written, particularly about investment in the team, and the shop, but in my eyes emailing fans is engagement albeit at a low level, whether you think differently or not, we just see that issue differently.

To be honest though it doesnt matter, they have a mountain to climb on engagement and they havent the stomach for it, and they just dont get it. The only way engagement will improve is with a change of ownership, its just a shame that doesnt look an imminent possibility.

Surely this is proactive? Reactive would've been them saying 'Tickets were only a tenner on Saturday, shame you couldn't make it'.

Or am I mistaken?

Like someone else said on this thread, damned if you do, damned if you don't....

No, being pro-active would be making serious investment in the team and giving the city and it's fans a product to be proud of. Reducing the ticket price is reactive to try and get people back to the Ricoh.

With regard to yours and others stupid damned if you do comment, I would actually love it if Sisu/Otium actually did DO something that was good for the club in the long term.

Huge attendance whereby probably 66% of the tickets will be given away for free? Hardly comparing apples with apples is it??

Very good, a specific figure of 66% with the word probably in front of it. Got anything to back up your numbers?

Also, would you say that if your figures were correct and say 10% of the 66% figure decided to go again but paid for their tickets would be a good thing?

This thread (nor SPs comment) was about investment in the team. Whilst I don't disagree with that, let's not trawl up the same argument just to suit your opinion when in fact, this IS a proactive move.

In fact two proactive moves...reducing the ticket prices at the most expensive time of year and getting the manager to promote it. What's not to like??

What's stupid about that comment?? If Sisu don't try and engage, they're shit at PR. If they do try and engage , they're just trying to money grab. Ffs take off your Sisu hate glasses for one minute, you may be able to see through the shit for once.

If you want to compare apples then why not make 10000 tickets available for free for school kids and their families and have Pressley and some of the players giving them out at the schools is something to like. Not a shitty email that was in all probability not even written by him and reducing prices when money is at a premium. I still do not see how reacting to falling attendance figures by reducing prices is anything but reactive.

I can see clearly thank you. I didn't realise that with this amazing offer from Sisu that i was supposed to take off my 'Sisu hate glasses' and applaud them. I haven't said that they are trying to grab money with this offer either, I did say that if they wanted to make money then a good start would be to stock up the club shop before Christmas but then with whatever glasses you wear I suppose you only see what you want to. Remind me again exactly how Sisu are properly engaging with fans at present and how much they are telling us things that we really need answers to?

It's a tiny step in the right direction.

This needed to be an article in the CET and a interview in CWR. That way they get a story and the club would have got free advertising.

It's like when a celeb does an interview its purely to promote their programme or book.

It should have been SP on radio and in the CET. Talking about the team, the January transfer window, the pitch, the dressing rooms and then this match with the appeal.

Not saying it was not a start in the right direction but the thing that will get people back is what takes place on the pitch and nothing else.
As for changing the fixture, this could be done with the FL consent....they just needed to ask.

I agree with you - however I wonder if the group wank-fest at the CET over Wasps could be put aside long enough to promote this.
