Level of disconnect (1 Viewer)

What levels have people began to start felling disillusioned or disconnect from the club now.

Some only attend away matches

Some it seems no longer attend matches at all

Some no longer listen on the radio

Some just check the final score.

Is this an emerging pattern.

Is it now also affecting the Sixfields crowd?

dont care win or lose found better things to do with my saturdays now dont get annoyed about them only intrested if they return back to coventry because they are just another team now and will not be CCFC till they return back to our city

I still want the team to succeed, but I'm not going to any games at all. I listen on the radio but don't know without checking when or who our next game ever is, with midweek games often catching me by surprise. Football as a whole bores me increasingly, it's all hype, politics and bullshit.

The wider issues with the game have dampened some enthusiasm, as well as out plight of course (which generally gets me down). Proabaly down to getting older and with more pressing things in life to focus my time on.

I still care as much as I ever have done. It may be easier for me as I live so far away and due to personal circumstances can only make 10 or so games a season. As I will not step foot in Northampton's shit stadium to watch my team play 'home' matches on principle I have simply switched home games to away games.

However, if a credible pheonix club is created (play in sky blue, nickname of sky blues, sing OUR club song) and if City permanently relocate outside of Coventry then I would switch allegiance and refuse to acknowledge the side playing outside of Coventry as Coventry City.

With regards any phoenix club, that wouldn't be on my radar. If Cov ceases, I'd just give up on football; something I could pretty easily do tomorrow to be honest.

I can feel my level of interest dropping. In some ways I'd be happy if I could just stop being a supporter, lets face it there's not many happy times being a supporter but as we all know you can't just flip a switch and stop. Saying that I know don't listen to games, don't go to home games, have been to the lowest number of away games of any season I can remember, due to the weird days / times we play now sometimes I forget we're playing till I get a score flash up on my phone.

I used to check twitter as soon as I woke up for CCFC news, that doesn't happen now.

The first thing I would do after firing up my PC would be come on here and then be checking throughout the day and night. Now I can quite happily not logon till late in the afternoon and even then it's more down to me having run out of other things to do. I check the board out of habit and much less frequently than I did.

My weekends used to be based around if I could get to a game and if not making sure I could hear it. Now my weekends are taken up with other things. To be honest if I didn't have the Sky app set to alert me to the scores I probably wouldn't even check them. I didn't check the score last night until about 11pm.

Of course all this could change back the moment we return to Coventry but there must be others like me and there are most likely more casual fans who have drifted away never to return and the longer we stay in Northampton the greater the number of fans we will have lost forever.

I wonder if they realised it would become this bad. If it bothers them that is has it if they do not give a stuff?

The new type of football club owner have little or no interest in the fans of the club or the game. It is about making money - nothing else matters. That is the way things are in life in general it seems (anyway, back to the curling)

Some last night on here actually said they didnt realise a game was on....

It would be 'nice' to think we are not far from rock bottom, but staring down the barrel of years at Sixfields, likely months/years of litigation, and the better players moving on-- I dont think we are anywhere near... and I wouldnt be surprised if Sisu have a back up plan just to liquidate in a year anyway.

Phoenix club might be the only ray of hope....

And as we all know this is the tragic thing. There must be thousands upon thousands of casual fans that will be lost forever. Not to mention the potential new young fans that are slipping through the net every day.

Its crystal clear that they couldn't care less. They want the Ricoh no matter what, and we are inconsequential to that. Lucky for us we have the FL to protect our interests. Oh wait.

I have also found other things to do.

Only listened to bits last night on the radio and checked the final score late evening. If somebody told me this is how I would follow the city today say two years ago then I would have thought they were mad.

My gut instinct tells me we do not come into the thought process of SISU.
That their complete focus is on how long they can stay away in order to break ACL.

The posts on this thread should be a wake-up call to the people running CCFC.

I’ve been an avid supporter for over 50 years, and a season ticket holder for most of that time, until this season. I won’t go to Northampton, and have only been to three away games. I don’t listen on the radio; don’t watch any highlights; couldn’t tell you what matches are coming up; don’t know what some of the players look like; don’t really mind if we win or lose; wouldn’t be over the moon with promotion or too upset with relegation.

IMHO there is no excuse for moving to Northampton, and the expectation that 7,000 people would go there betrays a pathetic lack of understanding of football. Regardless of whatever the Council/SISU/ Football League have done (and they all have a lot to answer for), the arguments should be taking place WHILE WE PLAY IN COVENTRY. Even it is proved that SISU have been badly wronged in some way, my opinion on that won’t change.

The “plans” for a 12,500 capacity stadium outside Coventry are an insult to the city, and in the absence of a satisfactory explanation from the Club, I have drawn my own conclusions from the Freedom of Information responses. Quite simply, they can’t treat me this way and expect to get away with it. They have taken away my feelings of loyalty to the Club (despite my respect for the Manager and the team itself).

Sorry if anyone doesn’t understand, and full respect to those of you whose feelings for CCFC are still as strong as ever, but it’s just not like that for me any more.

This thread isn't really anything to do with losing a game or if we are or aren't in the play offs. It's not like we've had years of fantasic results is it, surely if people were feeling disconnected from the club due to losing a couple of games that would have happened years ago!

well, since we went down from the prem, how many weeks has that actually been the case ?

I care just as much as I have, go home, go to the odd away game. Wouldn't support a Phoenix team, only Coventry City. If CCFC ever ceased to exist - which will never happen - then I wouldn't support anyone.

I reckon the majority of people from Coventry would support a phoenix team if ccfc failed to exist because we have the city/team bond that you fail to understand.

If ccfc didn't exist then you wouldn't follow a new Coventry club because you've no ties to the city. Simple.

Can't remember. But does it mean it won't happen? We said year after year until 1987 that we'd never win a major trophy, I used to remember at one point we were the only top flight club who didn't have a major honour. We got one in the end.

It's easy to say "what's the point, it'll never happen". And maybe it will never happen, maybe we'll never be promoted again, but I'm not the kind of person to give up. It's never been easy been a City fan and it's bloody difficult at the moment, but per ardua as astra, as they say.

up the butts to watch the rugby is on my radar.its not just about ccfc ,its about being cov .I was so proud as a youngster on holliday to say I was from cov ,when I got shipped out to Worcester my nick name soon became cov ,I was so proud .in my youth Coventry was a leader in motor and aero engineering,the music scene in cov was blinding ,I have the live recording of the sex pistols playing mr georges on 12inch vinal,after the first song rotton says how good the crowd is compared to the mourge down south they played the night before ,.tiffanys ,wat a blast .ccfc or no ccfc ,ill always be proud to be cov and ill always have my memorys ,you will never take the westend

You have no idea of the crowd figures that a phoenix team would attract. It would be a team playing in Coventry with the city's name and rid of sisu, , that'll do for me.

No, I do know. A new team wouldn't be Coventry City, wouldn't have the history, wouldn't be the same club I'd (wrongly apparently) supported for 40 years. It's Coventry City or nothing.
