We know about his injuries, but on losing Cal , surely he was / is the nearest player to replace Cal , without costing anything but wages ? ( play & pay contract )
He is fiesty & offers something different & a great footballer on his day ……
Just a thought !

I know there's a lot of reasons not to..... but my god I loved watching the guy and would happily take him back.... Then again, I said the same about Bright when he came back for his second spell

Sadly we should avoid. 26 now and never played more than 26 games in a season. Sadly because he was incredible for us in our promotion year and was also brilliant in the game we played against Swansea last season at CBS

Struggles to make 20 appearances a season. Forget him as an option.

We know DK is not into big squads, so we can't risk carrying someone like this. Play and pay contracts? Do they still exist?

Very low basic and big uplift for hitting a certain number of appearances he’s maybe worth a punt but he’ll probably get better than that somewhere else

His body isn't up to being a professional footballer, wouldn't mind him if we did a deal where he only gets paid if he's fit but doubt he'd want that and I'm sure other clubs would be willing to take that risk. Shame as he's a very good player at this level.

Certainly not at Championship level they don't.

Ironically the most he's ever played in a season was for us.... That suggests we know how to keep him fit

It's one of them, are we bringing in players to challenge the first 11 or are we bringing in players who know they'll be a sub most the time? If the latter and he's cheapish he's certainly an upgrade on the likes of Kelly, but injury record suggests avoid.

That isn't quite true of Palmer as some of his appearances are loan spells with other clubs.

So for instance 2018/19 Blackburn 14. Bristol 15.

Palmer's average over 8 seasons is 25. Between 2016 and 2019 his parent club was Chelsea and he made no appearances for them, but did have various loan spells at other clubs. But being on loan is not like being first choice or playing a whole season for a club.

Walsh has consistently struggle to make double figures in a season. His record at Bristol and Swansea should tell you enough.

Yes he did well for us and remember in League 1. He really isn't a positive option for a Championship side with aspirations of the play offs or even an automatic place.

I thought he was our stand out player in our League One title winning season. I also thought he was the standout player at the CBS in the Swansea game. His record of staying fit is very poor but oddly enough I don’t remember him missing games for us through injury. His slalom run and finish against Rochdale(?) in League One is still fresh in the memory. I would take a chance and have him back. I still think he would be an influential, game changing player for us.

He peaked under MR’s tutelage and really should’ve stayed when given the opportunity. We’ve got bigger fish to fry than Walsh so for that reason, “I’m out”.

But that was League 1 and three four years ago. He has averaged 12/13 games a season aged 24,25 and 26. That's appalling. Avoid, avoid, avoid. Our wage structure can't afford that dismal return. Also equally dismal before he joined us. 25 appearances in one season a career highlight.

Hate to say it but we shouldn’t go for him. One of my favourites in the promotion season but he didn’t stay or rejoin at any point since. I seem to remember his other half wanted to stay in Bristol. And that injury record

Palmer & Walsh fighting it out for the AM position, with Torp / Sakamoto / Allen able to deputize if both are injured (likely at some point).
We know MR & AV can get him playing...If the wages aren't too high then it would be a good move.

Why keep backing a horse that loses called Walsh? Let's get Dabo back? Maybe spin the wheel on Bright Enobakhare again? I am sure all would command cheap wages.

Alternatively source a good young player with a good fitness record and development potential?
Even if it means spending a bit of cash.

Sad his career has been blighted by injuries, as he was going to be some player. Played really well against us for Swansea last season but we can't afford players who can stay consistently fit (well apart from Sheaf).

Feck it i'd take him if he is cheap enough, obviously would have to be on favorable terms but he is clearly technically good enough, its just fitness that has halted his career. We want strength in depth, he would be a good squad option if fit.

If we want to progress IMO they need to be the quality of players that would get into the West Brom team, any less then we're not competing at the top end. So its a no from me.
