Try out www.approvedfood.co.uk , they sell near to & out of date stock (it's all edible though) I've used it on several occasions and saved an absolute fortune.
sorry I'll re-phrase , it's more to do with best before dates which as we all know err on the side of caution. A lot of what they seem to sell are tinned or packeted produce. Obviously it wouldn't work with fresh fruit & veg! Take a gander at the site and make up your own mind, all I'm saying is that I don't have a problem with it and it works for me.
Quote from their website : Starting off as market traders in Hull and Doncaster, we progressed into food wholesale and supplying other market traders. From wholesale we moved into a number of retail outlets that supplied both the public and wholesale trade. We specialise in selling short-dated or out-of-date "Best Before" dry food products as well as fully coded clearance stock. We do not however sell chilled or frozen "Use By" products.
