Match Of The Day host Gary Lineker will be given 24-hour security in South Africa costing £1,000 a day, according to reports.
The presenter, 49, is in South Africa to host the BBC's coverage of the World Cup from a purpose built studio overlooking Table Mountain.
The Sunday Express claims that security experts have warned the corporation to maintain low-profile security around their presenters, to avoid having an intimidating presence.
Police minister Nathi Mthethwa reportedly stated that protecting media organisations is a priority, saying: "We won’t let anyone disrupt this tournament."
It is alleged that the cost will be met by television licence payers.
