Found this great resource which actually lists every City transfer right into the dim and distant past.

Did we really pay E4.5M for Hamer? Where did that come from ?

We used to regularly see our best players go for next to nothing - Cyrus Christie for £111k

With no investment, the Maddison and Wilson money must have been all we had to keep the club going for several years.
