The Longford Engine has a lot of local live bands on Friday and Saturday nights (my Dad's band played there last Friday) but in terms of the City Centre it all depends on what you're in to really.
The Kasbah (Colly) has a website with all their upcoming events on, a few of which seem pretty good and also Mortimers seem to get the occasional guest in from off the TV.
A lot of people have told me to go to the Cross as well but as of yet haven't been there. Doubt everyone would recommend it if it's rubbish though.

It's mostly classic rock. Bit of Thin Lizzy, AC/DC, Black Sabbath and Bad Company mixed in with a bunch of their own songs and then some slightly newer stuff like Creed, Nickelback and Oasis.
The Arche's has an open mic session every Sunday from 16.30 for anybody who fancies playing, and they have got live bands on every week these days since they did the back room out. It's a smart little venue these days.
The Albany club in Earlsdon is useful on a sunday night ,bit like a fre an easy but some proper talentedfolk ,some on nights off from their regular bands getting together to Jam,cheap beers anotherr bonus .
