It is all 92 clubs, but just focusing on the Championship. It's pretty meaningless. All it shows is the population that is closest to which given club in our league. It would mean a bit more if they added in all club's from all leagues.
I think you misunderstand. It’s the amount of people for who the club is closest. This report is inaccurate and by the looks of things based on wildly inconsistent data. Assuming for e.g. that Sheffield Utd‘s supporter base is restricted to the city of Sheffield, ignoring South Yorkshire but ironically the fact it also shares Sheffield with Wednesday. There also seems to be an assumption that our support is limited to Coventry, Nuneaton and Bedworth, excluding the rest of Warwickshire and parts of the West Midlands, but that Berkshire is entirely the dominion of Reading FC. I’d call these stats absolute sh*te. Someone with a compass and a complete lack of understanding in demographics, population, and fan bases has plucked this information out of their ass.
Understood. I’d still say the numbers are skewed, however. On that basis, you could consider pretty much the whole of Warwickshire to be our territory and the combined numbers of Coventry and Warks are over 900,000 and not 488,000?I think you misunderstand. It’s the amount of people for who the club is closest.
Our “local” support is pretty much restricted to Coventry, Nuneaton, and Bedworth (along with Warwick, Rugby etc), as anyone supporting us from further afield are not supporting their local club.

Would be quite interesting if the club could overlay the polygon with postcodes of people with season tickets or over 5 ticket purchases on recordIts a Voroni polygon created around each club, it’ll have nothing to do with county boundaries.
IFor reference the population figure is for how many people that team is the closest club.
Are you sure?It is all 92 clubs, but just focusing on the Championship.
Blackburn and Burnley are almost equidistant to Manchester.I
Are you sure?
The figures don’t look right.
Blackburn and Burnley are almost equidistant to Manchester.
Yet, their polygons vary significantly.
Ah ok, it's slightly different to what I saw on Twitter. So its saying of the country's population, 489k have Coventry as its closest league club?It is all 92 clubs, but just focusing on the Championship.

True that .. Pendle - Craven - Calderdale - Rossendale are all hotbeds of Burnley support … and parts of CV6Is it not because Burnley is further to the east and to its east is semi rural yorkshire / lancashire border (Calder 'Happy' Valley is a bit of a hotbed of Burnley support), whereas Blackburn has Preston to the West and Burney / Nelson / Padiham / Accrington the its east.
Not sure. Also in burbage. I would say more 50/50 with many having moved over. Hinckley is probably more LeicesterAll a bit pointless. Coventry is nearer to me where I live in Burbage than Leicester but because we are in Leicestershire the majority of fans round here affiliate more with Leicester City.
That’s very optimistic. There are quite a lot of us here and many moons ago they used to run buses back to the Coventry car factories to encourage ex coventrians to move out…..but 50/50 nah, I’d say still 70/30 Leicester but then saying that the biggest supported team in Burbage is actually Leicester Tigers. Not sure. Also in burbage. I would say more 50/50 with many having moved over. Hinckley is probably more Leicester
