I think I've had a drink for 10 days out of 14 so far this year. Need to knock drinking on the head a bit as top priority.
I’m running the London Marathon in April for charity, and for some unknown reason since I found out a had a place in October my activity levels (football, gym, running) decreased and socialising increased (lots of food and beer!).
However, now Christmas and NY are done, I’m starting my training properly. My main worry is the boredom as it’s a long time to be running, so for now I’m focusing my training on longevity as opposed to miles, to try and get my body and mind used to it. I ran for an hour on Sunday and managed just over 6 miles which I was really pleased with.
I also played football on Monday night, however I failed to wake up for the gym this morning which is a little disappointing. However I’m aiming for another long (ish) run tomorrow!
While the main aim is to raise money for a charity linked to my Mum, I’m hoping a bi-product will by increased fitness levels and the disappearance of the horrible beer tyre I’ve gained the last few months!!
Decent effort on Sunday, well done!
I get bored on long runs too so I either stick the treadmill up a couple of % in the gym whilst watching football or stick on a podcast if running outside. I struggle swimming too for the same reason but those boredom saving options don't work so well underwater!
My issue is when I'm starving just eating a sandwichI’ve done 3 runs since Sunday, we’ve been eating pretty healthy all slimming world recipes bread and crisps are my downfall as I see a sandwich and a bottle of coke as a treat on a nightshift. Need to cut the beer out a bit too, I might give dry February a go

I wish they had something to automate that on treadmills so it slows you down, speeds you up. End up having to piss around with the controls all the time
A couple of months ago! They had loads of programs but none for hitA lot of the more modern ones have it built in now, when did you last go to the gym?
I bet it still hasn't been cleaned though!I’m thinking of rejoining spindles gym , just for the pool and sauna
Watch he doesn't kill youStill off the booze. It’s now starting to be far less tempting than it used to be. The spirits in the house are tempting but in the pub I’m happy with OJ and lemonade
Ill be at Bedworth, made a habit of it lately. Mid 30s now aiming for that 50 shirt this year.I may brave the park run tomorrow.
Unless it is pissing down like it did this afternoon
What do you do to not get bored?I’m running 8 miles 3 times a week, gonna keep it at that for a while and increase it to 10 by Easter

I don't miss it too much, might have a rum tonight thoughI can go weeks without drinking at times and genuinely don’t miss it, I feel so much better and my quality of sleep is much better. I moved over to Italy in Jan so have been having some beer or wine most days but just in moderation, I will probably revert back to old habits of not indulging soon though.
Either listen to talksport or podcasts,What do you do to not get bored?
I have tried a few times to go for a run but I just get boredeven with music on etc.
If I go and do circuits with shuttles where it isn't just running like that I'm fine as it's more stimulation! 0h er!
Do you do laps around the outside on concrete?Bedworth parkrun yesterday and Bedworth Park 5k today. Times are coming back, now I can run without pain again. Working on getting the lungs going again.
Yeah around the tarmac paths. Why, don’t you wanna get your feet dirty?Do you do laps around the outside on concrete?
Can't run on tarmac but just wondered where you did it!Yeah around the tarmac paths. Why, don’t you wanna get your feet dirty?

Try keto if you can, I'm rarely hungry now but it's no carbs high fat.Finding myself feeling starving in the day on weekdays because I tend not to eat a massive amount at work. Think I need to get some nibbles for at my desk but can’t have nuts or raw fruit (which would be the easiest option) because I have a reaction to them. Anyone have suggestions of what I could have in place of them? I’m quite happy to make it myself rather than buy pre-packaged stuff.
