Loyalty Point Bands (1 Viewer)

The one change I'd like is to be able to reserve tickets and pay for them but link them at a later time if available to allow people to group up and go together. In our personal circumstances of 3 season tickets, we're often 3 but sometimes 2 and that means the 2 tickets are in a different points bracket. I can't wait in case they sell out and means I then buy another. Not only 2 booking fees at £1.20 (ok it's marginal but unnecessary) and means they're not together. Some will argue it's a free for all and sit where you like, but there are games stewards insist on you being in the correct area and we do generally try and sit (well stand) in our allocated seats. I know for groups of mates who go together, they experience similar issues.

Can’t remember how many away trips I did in 21/22 so I’ll lose x amount on top of the 230, then re-add the 230 for renewal, so I’ll be knocked back just below 1500 again. Doh.

Yep, I'm on 1910, my grandson's only on 1280. To guarantee my ticket I need to buy on release, as I can't risk waiting for availability at 1200+ so he can come with me (He can't buy one on his own as he's under 14, so he's missing out and it means I'm traveling alone) Frustrating, but at least this way those that go H/A are rewarded with availability for the away games they want to attend

The brutal nature of the beast. As long as people are holding back so others with less points can come with them; when you are guaranteeing yourself the ticket all that happens is you make that deficit bigger should it not make their threshold.

I'm on 1840 but do a lot of away games. Strangely, my son has over 1900. Odd because he never goes without me.

Contact the club mate. Me and my dad were 10 or 20 points apart despite never going separately. Think he went up the ticket office and they corrected it.

A lot of the away allocations in the prem aren't actually that big. So getting tix for most games will be impossible for those without over 1200 points.

I was worried they’d do that to me. It must’ve only been a 10 point gap between me and my dad. 60 points might be a little tougher for them to concede a system glitch though.

If/when we do get there I imagine demand for away tickets will be huge so unless you have the points built up beforehand you won't stand a chance

My point was that it's still possible for people on lower points totals to gain points right now, that might not be the case at all in the prem as I imagine most games would sell out well before 1200 points.

Love it how posts like this appear when we are winning and doing well.

Swansea, WBA, Cardiff, Sheffield Wednesday to name a few that went to general sale

It’s possible to get points throughout the season if you really want to build them up

And yes, I have 2000 +

Yep, the home cup games are always 20 points. Some away even 30.

I don't think anyone has argued about the points system. Merely a question of number on each band for interest..

That’s fair but would anyone be questioning the number on each band if we were 18th in the table and facing a relegation battle.

Unlikley as we wouldn’t be selling out the likes of Derby and Sheffield United away

The FA have just added this to our membership page. Quite useful. We’ve always been able to see the amount on each cap level. City are not alone in not showing fans where they stand as most clubs don’t release that but there’s software out there to do it automatically. Not sure what there is to gain by keeping it a secret.

They used to years ago, when in the Prem, think ticket cost for away games taken out by direct debit every game.

Only home season ticket holders could get them, though of course lot less season ticket holders back then, and have to limit sales based on smallest away allocation I suppose .

My point was that its been possible for the last three or four seasons to gain points. If all of a sudden now we're doing well enough for you to start worrying about having enough points for Prem games it highlights exactly why the system was brought in.

Just an irrelevant comment.

Picking up 50 or so points in the reminder of this season could be the difference between being able to get tickets or not next year if we get promoted.

How often would they have to release it though weekly? During the course of the season you can add up to 500 points. If they were to do it it would have to be updated after every match. Realise it’s just a bit of software they would have to add to the website but it would have to be agreed by multiple clubs as most clubs use the same framework for their websites.

The points system is being abused though, there’s a big whatsapp group for Cov fans buying tickets just to sell in order to get their points.

I know it’s hard to police, but it would be interesting to know how many actual points holders are at the away games.

Luton and Plymouth will be manic for tickets.

As others have posted in here, there have been many games this season where you could collect points. The majority who went to Boro, Cardiff and Burnley will have no problem getting tickets to those to matches.

The majority will be there, let's be honest. If you go to the smaller followed matches, it's the same faces.

There's always going to be the odd issue and the club will clamp down on it should it become a problem.

My brother’s ST points is about that much and the ticket has only been used a handful of times for away games and the we didn’t get a ST for 22/23.

If anyone is complaining about points, it tells me they’ve probably only recently got a ST and/or don’t really do that many away games. Which is fine, no judgement here, but you can’t have your cake and eat it.

It’s like the Ipswich ‘fans’ moaning on Twitter about STHs getting to go to all the games and advocating for match passes for ‘select games’… I wonder what those people had in mind and don’t think he had Bournemouth or Forest at home on a Tuesday night when calling for that.

This was only practical when we’d rarely sell out away ends. If we did this today, it would be oversubscribed and would make the points even more of a closed shop if the sale was restricted to fans of ‘x’ points bracket and above.

We could do it when our average away attendance was around 1k.

That’s the case for any system though unless you force people to collect from the ground with ID. Which is what they do for England away games, which is abused because people can collect the tickets and sell them on.

It’s common for teams who use ballot systems that will enter the ballot for games they have no intention of going to because every game is oversubscribed, you need to collect points wherever you can.

Through a mate, I was offered Champions League tickets for a Man U away games in Spain. No system is perfect unfortunately.

Me. I never sell on my tickets. I buy for myself and my lad and we always go. Same with the majority I would say. There will always be some who ruin it for others.

They can catch up because there are only a small number on those numbers and there have been many opportunities to boost the points.

Given how games make general sale, this simply isn’t the case on the scale you’re suggesting. Is it true for Luton and Plymouth away and other sell out games, probably.

It doesn’t take that long to build your points either, I only started doing away consistently for over a year now and even without a ST in 22/23, I’m on 1400+ now. It’s been a massive time investment, don’t get me wrong but I’m now in a position where, barring the sub 2k allocations, I’ll get a ticket.

The tickets available for England away games are often more oversubscribed with less tickets available.

Brentford 1.6K / Bournemouth 2K / Fulham 2.7K everyone else is 3K+

We had one from when they came in the late 90s until we went to Northampton as we didn't have ST's.

They were great and there were only a couple of hundred of us i believe, be interesting to see how many would apply if they brought them back.
