Hello there.

I'm writing an article about Magnus Hedman (it's a kind of Where Are They Now? thing) and I want to get fans' memories about him as a player. Any memories/stories you have - good or bad - please post them here. Doesn't even have to be a story/memory as such, could just be your general view on his time at Coventry. Especially good would be any personal memories you have of meeting him/seeing him around town - stuff like that.

I'd want to use some of the your quotes for the article, which will appear on the Yahoo Football website next week. So if you don't want your comments to be used then let me know, and they won't be.

I should point out I'm not a Sky Blues fan, I'm actually a Hammer. Feel free to abuse me for this!

Cheers,
Kevin

After they signed him I stopped going until Oggy was dropped and he was picked, it was like a breath of fresh air a goalkeeper who could kick it and could move.

Solid Prem League keeper. Great shot stopper, but slightly dodgy on crosses. Not the best kicker of the ball either. Commanded his area well and rarely lost his Swedish cool. Always applauded the West Terrace and celebrated goals. Not really a legend, but played and was consistent at the highest level for our Club.

There you have it, Magdelene made a bigger impression on the fans than her hubby.

Pretty over rated. Never brave despite a big physical presence.

His career effectively ended at 29 when he left us.

Huge mistake signing him and letting John Filan leave.

I knew Magnus quite well as lived in Northampton and drank in the same pub as me. The pub was owned by a father and son who happened to both be Cov fans, and Magnus drank there before he signed for us. A nice guy who knew his football (and got his round in). He danced with my mate at Auntie Ruths nightclub to Dancing in the Moonlight by Toploader - the image will never leave me!

Really top keeper in my view. Fantastic reactions - as Ricky Gekoski put it in 'Staying Up' he had hands like flypaper.

I remember him quite literally throwing a lead away at the new den a few years ago (we lost 3-2) Have to agree with Grendel - he was overrated.
Two or three years later I was on a stag do in Hamburg and we somehow found ourselves in an exotic dancing bar. There was (I kid you not) Magnus Hedman, with a couple of pals. I eventually went over to him to claim my ten euro's. "You're Magnus Hedman" I said. He denied it, in a Scandinavian accent. He and his two mates left shortly afterwards and I continued dancing in an exotic manner.

Apologies if this has already been posted, but it's late and I can't be arsed to read previous posts.

I remember when he was leaving/left us that there was an advert for rehoming a dog, can't remember where, but the advertiser was asking for a Swedish speaker as this was the language the dog had been brought up with. I was told it was Magnus Hedman's pet and he was unable to take it with him.

Could be an urban myth, but maybe not ................ you decide.

PS - I rated him actually - not in the Bill Glazier mould - but then I don't think anyone, even Oggy, has held a candle to him.

Just like to add that I too enjoyed Mrs Hedman as a teenager (me not her). Thought he was a decent keeper. Grendel thinks he's shit so he can't be that bad.

Excellent shot stopper but could not catch a ball on crosses to save his life.

Distribution was okay, not the best.

Lost his way abit, and set a record clean sheets for Sweden, , where at the time Barcelona were reportingly monitoring him whilst playing for us, nothing come of it though.

Brilliant shot stopper whilst here and at international level too. Remember him pulling off a world class save from a Becks free kick whilst playing for Sweden. Wasn't great at crosses but I'm sure I read something about him coming out for the ball and unintentionally seriously injuring another player early in his career and struggled afterwards.

I liked Magnus he was a calming influence on our back four. His missus was mint of course, she was a twin wasnt she? The other one was seeing Martin Dahlin? (or the one was knocking off both!).

The abiding memory is of a home game to Grimsby where he ran about 40 yards out of his goal, got tackled by Phil Jevons who then put it into the empty net from distance. We lost 1-0 and I believe that was when there were mass protests on the pitch afterwards and Strachan left shortly after.

Main memory of MH is his attitude the day he was confronted on the pitch at Preston.
Just before the fan got on to the pitch he kicked a goal kick straight into touch. When the fans gave him grief, he turned around an laughed. That, in my opinion, put him in a long line of players who put on the shirt but didn't give a shit about the club or its fans.

But......his missus was smokin' hot.

I remember a home game (no idea when or who against, I was v young at the time) where my only memory is the crowd turning on Strachan for not taking Hedman off when he was quite clearly injured and struggling to play on. Paul Williams had to take the goal kicks. That is all.
