Thought he was decent against Blackburn tbh.EMC doesn’t deserve a place in the side. I’ve literally not even seen a single cameo or passage of play where I’ve thought he looks like a good player. He looks non-league!
The return to 3-4-1-2 is clearly an attempt to concede less goals. If we need to go into every game needing a minimum of 2 goals, we won’t win many games. Additionally, the idea is to make use of all 4 strikers over the 90 minutes. We're obviously looking to go back to basics to rebuild some solidity, at the minute it doesn't feel like any loss because we've not seen anything from EMC to suggest otherwise yet.
Wright was our marquee signing who we have been playing out of position wide left and wondering why he doesn’t seem to naturally track back with any effect.
I would start Wright and Simms up top with Bassette off the bench. BTA showed last night that running around to no real effect does little for the team.
I actually thought BTA pressed really well but had no support. There was a few times he pressed a defender successfully but was visibly frustrated when his teammates weren’t pressing and left a man open (though it is possible that was the team instructions).
Have we ever played Simms and Wright upfront together?Wright was our marquee signing who we have been playing out of position wide left and wondering why he doesn’t seem to naturally track back with any effect.

Has anyone got the running stats available because I'd like to compare them as I disagree with this but no facts to back it up. To me he does work hard but only in certain areas of the pitch and I dont know what his instructions are.A lot of it to do with Rudoni's chronic lack of work rate
We did the start of last season and they were horrific.Have we ever played Simms and Wright upfront together?
yeah he was really goodTho

Yeah, I think with pairings I'd go BTA/Bassette. Both will press so everyone is on the same page. Which also puts Simms and Wright together. You'd think the amount they cost it'd be a terrifying attack for opposition to face, but I'm not so sure.I actually thought BTA pressed really well but had no support. But if we drop him, who have we got to come in? We are so short of numbers in midfield aren't we.A lot of it to do with Rudoni's chronic lack of work rate
At least two occasions when he ran in at the ball was fizzed in from the opposite side of the box. Unlucky. Certainly not as bad as people suggest.EMC doesn’t deserve a place in the side. I’ve literally not even seen a single cameo or passage of play where I’ve thought he looks like a good player. He looks non-league!
Other than the major role in the goal including the assist.Wright was our marquee signing who we have been playing out of position wide left and wondering why he doesn’t seem to naturally track back with any effect.

He actually blew the actual chance and got lucky when the rebound fell to him againOther than the major role in the goal including the assist.

Its almost like we lost 4 midfielders in the last 18 months and only brought 2 in as replacements...But if we drop him, who have we got to come in? We are so short of numbers in midfield aren't we.
Agreed. And there‘s no doubt he’s giving his best every match he plays.Other than the major role in the goal including the assist.
True Stu, but how regularly were they playing for CCFC over that 18 month periodIts almost like we lost 4 midfielders in the last 18 months and only brought 2 in as replacements...
I think things are getting better. Even the defence seems to realise that you can’t pass the ball around in the box now! We looked so vulnerable. Latibaudiere is playing better.Whatever system we use, it is negated by the ‘lack of confidence’ around the players.
It’s too early to tell regarding EMC, far too early. He looks like a player trying too hard, and from experience, that just undoes you as a player.

That might be ok, with it switching to a bit more of a 5-4-1 out of possession.Could always keep the three at the back but shift to add wingers

He’s also our only wide player to make a goal contribution. Sakamoto is benefitting from his flash in the pan from in Xmas to Feb last season. In reality, he’s also done v little this season too and it goes under the radar. At least two occasions when he ran in at the ball was fizzed in from the opposite side of the box. Unlucky. Sakamoto has barely played. The only first team players who've played less than him are Allen, Bassette and Tavares. He's played 200 less minutes than Mason Clarke. He’s also our only wide player to make a goal contribution. Sakamoto is benefitting from his flash in the pan from in Xmas to Feb last season. Whilst Simms gets slagged off for last night in a game he improved us (noted by MR), Bassette and Sakamoto didn’t do anything of note and somehow they’re both the answer? It doesn’t make sense.
Agreed. It's mad not to play MVE and Saka together. The only partnership in the whole team that works! And that gives a positive vibe to other players and the fans.Sakamoto has barely played. Our best attacking performance of the season unsurprisngly came with Sakamoto on the right in front of van Ewijk and Wright on the left.
