Saturday will be the 49th time that Reading and Coventry have met in league and cup matches. City have won on 14 occasions with 14 draws and have scored 63 goals compared to Reading's 75.

The last game between the two sides was on April 5th 2010 and saw City 3-0 down by half-time in a game which saw many of the City supporters there finally lose their patience with then manager Chris Coleman.

The first game of a really tough little run!

A 1 v 1 draw would be good enough, although I expect to (at best) achieve draws against each of Norwich, Cardiff and QPR - and a 4 point return.

However, if and a big if, we can somehow bully a win on Saturday and then draw our next two home games, we can afford a loss to Cardiff and still take a 5 point return - progress indeed!

1-1 against Reading, recent games have been fantastic, confidence will be high but Reading will be tough opponents Saturday. Hopefully Keogh gets a well deserved goal at last. PUSB

A real test of how we have progressed, or whether we've fluked a few lucky wins of late. We could either be firmly in the Play Offs (even pushing automatic) or 15th in two weeks.

Only thing that slightly concerns me is how King will be feeling after losing his appeal. He could come out all guns blazing with a fire in his step to make amends, or he could be disappointed and not on the ball.

No real strong feelings about this one, could go either way, but seeing as i keep hearing we haven't won at reading since 2005 and this is the season to end all historical poor statistics, i'd say we have a fair chance of taking three points!!

I've got my ticket for this one, anyone know how many we have sold so far?

I'm gonna go for a 1-1 draw, Eastwood to come on and bag a goal . A run of 4 very tough games coming up over the Christmas period, i'm confident of 1 win and 1 draw from the two home games and unfortunately i can only see us losing away at Cardiff. 5 points would be a great return and set us up well for our play off push for the rest of the season.

Yea i agree. The next 4 games are very important to our season as it will show us really how realistic our promotion aspirations will be because we need to be picking up points against the top teams. My predictions are:

Reading - Draw
Norwich - Win
Cardiff - Lose
QPR - Win

Hi Nick :welcome: to SBT Turner was in crutches after his injury... I think Mid/Late December or early January he should be back (correct me if im wrong anyone with more information on Turner )

A draw would be good but I feel that a win would defiantly be helpful considering the run of games we have reading away is a test if we are truly promotion candidates I feel we need to get something out of tough games like this going to go for 1-1 platt goal

Based on our decent away form this season, i sort of expect us to win these days. In many years of support, i have never felt more confident that we will finally achieve a playoff place.

I've gone for 2 - 2 I reckon we will concede a late equaliser after Macca and Freddie have pulled us level then taken us ahead.
This weeks lottery numbers are 23; 25; 31; 36; 40 and 1 other.
I can see a player with red hair being sent off in the Premiership ~ and an African player scoring the winner for a visiting team.
I see a man winning X Factor and Strictly will be won by a European couple.
Leicster to win in France, and the Ashes are coming home.
On a less happy note there will be a coach crash on the motorway.
No snow today but very cold tonight.

Who's in and who's out
Coventry City travel to reading without midfielder Sammy Clingan and central defender Ben Turner who are still both out with knee injuries.
Left back Stephen O`Halloran has returned to training after recovering from a long term back injury, but he is nowhere fit enough to be considered for team selection yet.
Reading skipper Matt Mills returns after suspension and is likely to replace Zurab Khizanishvili. Winger Jimmy Kebe has fully recovered from a knee injury and is in the running for his first outing since October.
Coventry City have not beaten Reading in their last six attempts and have lost on their previous three trips to Reading. However it is the Sky Blues who have the better recent form and go into the game in the knowledge that they do have the ability to beat so called bogey teams this year.
Coventry sit in fifth place in the table on 33 points and have won their last three games. Another win on Saturday would be their fourth in a row which City have not managed since 2002 when they were still in the premier League. Coventry City have also kept three consecutive clean sheets and if they can achieve another today would mean four successive clean which the club last managed eight years ago
Reading have drawn their last four matches and a fifth draw would mean they would be the first team to mange five consecutive draws in the Champioship for two years. The Royals have not won a league game since October.
Reading are in are 13th place in the Championship, but have managed to score eight goals without reply in the last ten minutes of matches they have played this season

Coventry City manager Aidy Boothroyd said that he was happy after his Sky Blues side kept their fourth consecutive clean-sheet with a goal-less draw at Reading.

Speaking to the Press Association at the after match press conference, the City boss said: "I am really happy with a point. I said before the start that this would be our toughest game and it was. They put you on the back foot and keep coming in waves, but both teams went at it.
"We didn't start well even though we knew what would happen. They looked like they had been on red meat and we had to be strong and resilient and we did that.

"In the first half they were the better team but in the second half we shaded it.
"We could have snatched a winner from Marlon King near the end. That may not have been fair on Reading but football isn't fair. Adam Federici saved well but he is a good goalkeeper and difficult to beat.
"At the other end Richard Keogh turned one over the bar for us. We had two penalty claims that were not given. One was for a forearm smash and half nelson on McSheffrey and the other when Marlon King was brought down.
"We have now got 10 points from the last 12 and I am happy with that."

Opposing Manager's View
Reading Boss Brian McDermott felt that his side should have had all three points from the game with Coventry City at the Madejski Stadium this afternoon.

Speaking to the Press Association after the game, McDermott said: "We dominated the game and should have won. "In the 87th minute Shane Long had a chance to win it with a header. In the first half we dominated but the goals aren't going in at the minute and in the Championship the first goal is very important.
"I have never been involved in a team that's had five successive draws, but on the positive side that means five games unbeaten.
"Shane had three or four opportunities early on and he has to make sure nothing gets in his head because he is not scoring.
"He's a striker and all strikers want to score. What would affect him is people getting on to him and that's not happening
"I have been here a year now and we were second from bottom when I took over. We have lost a lot of goals from the team with players leaving the club, but at the time I took over, none of our Academy youngsters were near the first team and now about half the team are from the Academy.
"I am frustrated for the players not for myself. We are trying to find a solution for our lack of goals and our substitutions were positive."

Good game yesterday, all it lacked were the goals really. Well earned draw at a place not many teams will get any points, we rode our luck a bit in the opening 20 minutes or so but as we got into the game we looked more threatening and could have nicked it especially if a penalty shout had gone our way but can't grumble at the point. Great support yesterday as well, good to see the away numbers going up which made the goalless draw an enjoyable game! Made lots of noise especially 2nd half as we tried to suck the ball into the net as City were attacking the goal the away fans were behind.

Just watched the extended highlights on player.

We were very that Long didn't have a hat-trick before half time and we didn't do a good job defending crosses. You can see from the highlights how dangerous King is, second half they seemed to have two men on him all the time and he was still beating them. My question to the ref though, if it wasn't foul on King in the box then how was it a foul at the end outside the box, both look similar in the way the defender is all over him. In the penalty decision he turns him inside out, the defender slips and takes King down as well, certain pen no?

Anyway, with all the chances Long had in that game, I'm very happy with the draw!

McPake on draw at Reading

Another Clean Sheet & I Was Happy With That - McPake

Coventry City defender James McPake has said that he was happy with his defence keeping a clean sheet on Saturday at Reading.

Reading missed three good chances early on but City's defence held firm to come away with the draw that many of the 1251 City supporters who were at the Madejski would have taken before the game.

"I played in the match back in April when we were 3-0 down at half time and in the first 20 minutes I just kept thinking back to it," said James McPake to the CT.
"I think that was the hardest game for me since I have been back in the side.
"Like their strikers, their wingers are as good as any others in the league and it was a test but one we stood up to and at the end of the day it was another clean sheet and we are happy with that."
