Heard a whisper over the weekend about James, apparently we have offered him a 2 year deal and Bristol have offered 3 years..
I'm surprised that we would not want to match Bristols offer of a 3 year deal, albeit with clauses in case we get relegated. We gave Kastaneer a 3 year deal!!Heard a whisper over the weekend about James, apparently we have offered him a 2 year deal and Bristol have offered 3 years..
Kastaneer wouldn't have been our highest paid playerI'm surprised that we would not want to match Bristols offer of a 3 year deal, albeit with clauses in case we get relegated. We gave Kastaneer a 3 year deal!!
Ok Mr Tax man.Won’t be signing anybody until our accounts are submitted.

Sky Blues accounts set to be filed and transfer embargo lifted
The Sky Blues expect to be able to start player trading from next weekwww.coventrytelegraph.net
The family aspect doesn’t mean a lot, most players don’t move their families each time they move club. His family is closer to Cov than Bristol so you never know. But it’s not the end of the world. Plenty of players available this summer.

Doesn’t Godden also have his family in Kent?Yeah, Kelly still lives in Milton Keynes where he started his career. Unless you’re an elite footballer with financial security makes no sense to uproot your family.

The uprooting the family part gets mentioned on here often but it’s not true in reality.
Zero, but I’m confident we will get it right this pre season I don’t see many risks coming in,I’m sure plenty is going on behind the scenes,I’m hopeful over walsh & James but worried when we are competing against others for their signature,James being local I think will help us but ultimately money talks.Any transfer news your end?
Good to see you back posting, CC84 will be thrilled I’m sure
Welcome back my friendThanks mate, long covid knocked me completely on my arse for months but it coincided with our cracking end of the season which cheered me up a bit
I've actually missed the little guy, I assume he hasn't changed

Nobody more pleased than I when the accounts are submitted I can assure you but we are talking sisu here. If they told me today was Tuesday I’d check the calendar.Which they will be. I bet you will be gutted.

It's different for us normal folk though. A lower league footballer could be in Coventry for 12 months then 6 months in Sunderland before going to Gillingham for a year then another 6 months in Rochdale etc. Can’t imagine working away from the family most of the week personally.
Cardiff signed Collins, Huddersfield signed RhodesWho has everybody else signed in this time?

He is lives in Wimslow just outside Manchester ?His family is closer to Cov than Bristol so you never know. But it’s not the end of the world. Plenty of players available this summer.
I think there is a very good chance he will sign , he is based in just outside Manchester and travels down most days so the being closer isnt the factor but the fact we took him in January and he has got to know players and management is a big factor100%
Nothing new here really - good player attracts interest from other clubs - it'd be a surprise if he didn't. If not for his injuries, he'd be a Premier League player.
We discussed the possibility of him joining us permanently when taking him on loan, he's settled in the area & enjoyed his time here so he knows the lay of the land.
Other clubs will offer more money & maybe a shot at the playoffs & he'd be foolish not to explore all his options.
I'm relaxed either way - would love to get him but, if not, we move on to other targets.
Agreed - it is probably our strongest area of the team, so if he goes elsewhere, I won't be too concerned, as it should free up funds for other areas that need 'maintenance', Happy if we do get him, though.Must admit I was deceived by his flattery. He was really important to our survival and things would have been very different without his ability and experience. As far as I am aware he didn't miss any matches with injuries last season. Seems he was unlucky earlier in his career.
Even if he doesn't sign long term he will have been a great short term signing at the time and I feel his experience and know how will have been helpful to the development of our younger midfielders.
