McQuoid Signs (1 Viewer)

On the plus side, his name would get a high Scrabble score. On the downside, names aren't allowed in Scrabble. Bad signing.

Good luck. At least he's only on loan so if he's shite we are not lumbered.

Duffer - how dare you discount our very own cup final winning captain

I don't know whether it's classified as 'slagging him off'; but I'm a bit disappointed that he's been given the #9 shirt. Of the Wilson money, Waggott stated: 'If he (Pressley) feels there is a player within that budget that can strengthen the squad that requires a transfer fee, then we will pursue that player'; there's a bit of me that hoped some of the cash might be used for an up-and-coming lower league (if there are many more 'lower' league teams) striker. The #9 shirt being handed out kinda kills that dream. Still, whenever will I learn.....

Of McQuoid - his record isn't prolific; but neither was Wilson's ahead of last season, or Clarke's - of the order he managed with us. So, fingers crossed he can do us a job until January - by which point it'd be awful nice if we were playing football back where we should be - and some cash can be liberated to fund a promotion push. As such, he's surely welcome

Ah - he didn't have a beard then though, did he? Look at how his career fell as his facial hair increased. It's linear, I tell you. :)

cf also George Best, and Jim Morrison. It always flags the beginning of the end, facial hair. ;)

And Fisher. Remember when SISU used to 'smash everyone in court'? He goes and watches the Three Musketeers on a Sunday night, whiskers himself up; and immediately, their legal team posts sequential results like Sunderland did when Niall Quinn took temporary control. There's something in this...

21 goals in 169 matches in a career spanning 8 years. That's a goal every 8 games........or a goal roughly every 11 weeks. Hot stuff!

I have only seen McQuoid in action once, it was his NI debut, Came on in 2nd half and won a pen. Apart from that, did little, but fingers crossed he gets the goals we need

he has just been on CWR

"key is that manager wants me.
Hopefully get some game time.
Few injuries held me back last season.
Danny Swanson has been saying good things.
Number 9 was one of the only ones left, so I took it.
Last season I played a lot in midfield, my main role is striker"

With regards to discussing football, or any other issues on here, always go for the view which is the opposite of the majority. You're guaranteed to be not far off the mark.

Can't really argue with that! I learnt that when I said Thorn was dreadful and got absolutely hammered for it. :(

I love the way he said it was a 'no-brainer' yo come here, but the CET had been posting stories quoting him as saying he didn't want to come and wanted to stay and fight for his place. Anyway, that said, if he starts playing and gets a few goals, I guess we'll all be happy !

What was McGoldricks' record before he joined us?

McGoldrick scored 31 in his first 175 games in all competitions (all before he joined CCFC). 0.177 goals a game or 1 every 5.6 games.
He scored 32 in the 175 games prior to joining CCFC. 0.183 gpg or 1 every 5.5 games.

McQuiod has scored 22 in the same period in all competitions (his career to date). 0.126 per game or 1 every 7.9 games.

Career stats for league only: McGoldrick 0.26 gpg (1 in 4), McQuiod 0.10 (1 in 10)

Have to take into account that a significant amount of his appearances were on the wing

Surely if he's played most of his career on the wing it's because every gaffer he's had sees him as a winger and not a striker, let's be honest we all thought we were a striker but the reality is little different. That said Juventus and Monaco both used Henry as a winger and look how he turned out

True, McGoldrick also played midfield at first (though not as much). You also have to take into account 12 of McQuiod's goals were scored in one season, 5 of them in his first five games as a striker and 6 in two back to back hatricks. It took him 4 seasons to score 1 goal before that and 4 seasons to score 2 after it. His next most prolific season was 5 in 39 for Bournemouth in their promotion season.

I'm not slating the guy, but those are his stats. I hope he does well, from what I can tell he's a better winger than a striker, but who knows maybe he just needs a certain type of service/partner and we have it.

Would agree with all that, also adds a bit of pace will was and still is needed

I once had a goal ratio of 2 per game in a season, sign me up!

*I did only play one game, I did come on at 2-1 down and score 2 to get us promoted in the only game I played that season! It was in the second half so 2 in one half must be a goal in 4 games?

In his last 35 appearances for Forest he scored 3 goals -- hence being dubbed David McGoaldrought.

I still remember seeing the glee on the Forest forum at us taking him on loan and getting all downhearted.

McQuoid is still only 24 and showed glimpses of being decent. League 1 is such a funny league. The top goalscorers list will always contain a few names who have done nothing of note at other clubs. Lets hope McQuoid could be one of them.

No he didn't, he scored 6. He scored 3 in the 38 before that.

McQuiod has scored 2 in 34 Championship games.

He's not as prolific as McGoldrick whatever measure you want to use. Miller has a better record, although most of it is at L2 level.

Like I said, he sounds like a decent winger, that's where he's got his best reviews. And maybe with a partner like Tudgay and under Pressley's tactics he'll score more. If nothing else he gives us some much needed pace.

Not excited by him coming, but let's give him a chance good luck to the lad. Has got to be better value than Freddie Eastwood.
