'However beautiful the stratergy, you occasionalloy have to look at the results.' Winston Churchill quote. Great stratergy the diamond if we have the players with confidense and flair which we have none. We need to go long ball boring but under Boothroyd we won games that way. I never complained when we done that. It worked and thats what we need.

The squad he had at the time was much stronger then the current squad and he got figured out which resulted in allot of losses.

Not that much stronger. We only miss Turner and King. King was a big loss though. But alot of for the first ten games which is what we need now wins and in a row.

So Westwood and Gunnarsson are not a loss? one of them now plays in the Prem for Sunderland and the other plays week in week out for Cardiff who are 5th.

Team full of experienced pro's - certainly not 4 teenagers playing most weeks!

This squad would get battered playing any formation and using any tactics.

he is a decent manager.

people just seem to forget he lost 12 outfield players during the summer and has only been allowed to sign mcdonald.

am sure if we still had westwood, tuener, gunnarsson and king as our backbone we wouldnt be having many problems.

infact we would be in the top 10.

SISU OUT!!

I couldn't agree more.

Definition of a good manager - one who can hide behind SISU and do nothing. How can anyone describe Andy Thorn as a good manager, if he is a good manager why hasn't another club poached him so his immense talents can yield fruit with true resources. Even SISU aren't stupid enough to offer the old duffer an extended contract. At least he'll be gone at the end of the season. Good riddance.

Any manager would be more successful if they had better players! That is a complete non-argument. Stick Barca's first team in Sky Blue colours and I'm sure AT would be a genius.

Is he really making the most of a squad with Cranie, Keogh, Wood, Bell, McSheffrey, Baker, Juke, Eastwood, Clingan, formerly Gardner? Not a great squad by any imagination, but surely more points can be extracted than the current two wins from 22!

We gain nothing but a lowering of our reputation even further by losing Thorn now.

I've asked Santa for a win on Boxing Day, and I've been really good this year, so it's a cert.

Correct me if I'm wrong!
But didn't we go 15 games without a win after Christmas under Bothroyd, his style was appalling, and even Sisu recognised that it was, he didn't win many matches either, and was rightly sacked.
I cannot argue that we are not in serious trouble, but surely, people can recognise the better entertainment value of Thorns style, and we are losing by the narrowest of Margins and not getting Hammered, all this after his squad was depleted by the loss of several key players during the summer.
I don't believe any manager, could have done significantly better than Andy Thorn, who was cut adrift, without adequate replacements, for his decimated Squad.
WE have had to play Young players, who probably, are twelve or eighteen months short of readiness for the rigours of this league, and a Keeper who''s Handling capabilities are suspect to put it kindly.
with proper Backing, we could have been sitting in the top ten this Christmas, instead of staring into the Jaws of relegation. But Don't lets stab Andy Thorn in the back, he has only tried to bring us brighter Football, But he like us, has been badly let down by a non commited board of Directors.
Respect....Tank Top...

I don't believe the "entertaining football" bollocks that keeps getting trotted out.

5 yard passes to each other between our 18 yard box and the centre circle with no intent isn't entertaining at all.

It's more akin to when I was married to my ex-wife, possession with no penetration.

Exactamundo.

The football this season has not been entertaining at all. Its been awful. Like watching a training session or reserve match, oh lets play football in our own half bollocks looks attractive. Does it fuck and its uneffective
