I don't understand why anyone would want him?

Every time a failing premier league manager gets sacked everyone bangs on about them being the best manager ever and how we would love them. Well I think it's bollocks. McCarthy aint up to the job of keeping CCFC in the championship. He's another big name manager, but not all too good at managing. I would put him in the same category as Mark Hughes.

Oh and to add to that, he has a stupid nose.

He took an average Wolves side to the PL and kept them there on a relatively small budget. The problem as always is the fans and owners expectation. He is a bit of a tool with some of his comments (ala Strachan) but did a decent job imo. I would take him here in a heartbeat, but zero chance of that happening.

he has actually still spent quite a bit of money: -

2006-07 - 12 permanent signings and 9 loan signings - finished 5th in Championship
2007-08 - 9 permanent signings (including £1.5m Eastwood, £1.5m Ebanks-Blake) and 3 loan signings - finished 7th in Championship
2008-09 - 8 permanent signings (including £3m Berra, £1.6m Stearman, £1.2m David Jones, £1m Jason Shackell) and 8 loans in - finished 1st in Championship
2009-10 - 7 permanent signings (including £6.5m Doyle, £2.6m Milijas, £2.5m Zubar, £2m Halford, £1.8m Maierhofer, £1.2m Surman) and 4 Loan signings - finished 15th in PL
2010-11 -9 permanent signings (including £6.5m Fletcher, £2.5m Van Damme) and 4 loan signings - finished 17th
2011-12 - 4 permanent signings (including £7m Roger Johnson) and 2 loans - currently 18th.

I agree quite a bit of money but not in relative terms to many other teams they are trying to compete with and considerably less than the reported £100m per season they report its worth to stay in the PL.

you could say the same about Wigan and their previous managers that have kept them up on a shoestring - sometimes it's just your time.

And when will it be thorns time?

When SISU decide that they actually care about the football club and not purely the balance sheet - they can't even be arsed to find the money for another couple of loan signings we desperately need. I suspect that we need to off load Eastwood first.

More importantly they can't be bothered to give thorn the amount left on his contract which is probably the price of a bag of crisps and actually find a manager.

something just doesnt add up about all of this,

Thorn was given a minimum rise for becoming manager,

so why not just say "andy, your times up pal, but here is your scout job back" at your old salary ?

Because I suspect the board are not empowered to make the call. I would guess sisu need to be involved and they see cost and no benefit.

Ok well McCarthy is 100 times the manager thorn will ever be and that is why he won't be our manager. It is of course partly about thorn because we are so desperate to get him put as soon as a real manager pops up we talk about him.

Mad Mick is the last thing we need, the man's a paranoid hoofer. Makes Boothroyd look gifted.

If you want a manager who might be able to get this lot up the league, I'd go for Adams.
