Rumours going around yesterday that Ashley is getting involved??? I’m guessing investment if any truth in it. Probably more BS though!!!

It's been a rumour for 2.5 years now. It was bollocks then and it's bollocks now

What self respecting businessman who is worth billions would let a cooking oil salesman with no football knowledge have a go at running the club and then picking it up after him?

If he wanted us when he got the ground, he would have done without question

Seems inevitable he would be interested in the biggest asset affecting his investment in the CBS. Not sure how I feel about it though. Ultimately, didn't do the Toons any harm.

Probably bullshit. Who knows but I would say this…. There will be inevitable links to joining the stadium and club together as per common sense but as always it’s everything has price. Ashley might not be interested at all but if Doug wants out and reduces his price then things change don’t they.

Not sure what the relevance of your second paragraph is to be fair.

As for the third, why would he have showed his hand to SISU like that?

He was looking at Derby a few years ago so it isn't inconceivable that he wants to get involved again.

I'd rather Mike Ashley than Doug King as our owner, least he has experience running a football club!

I mean, it might be bollocks but doesn’t it make sense?
He’s invested in a football club before and (presumably) made a ton of money for himself from doing so…and He owns the stadium we play in.
I can’t help thinking it’d be weirder if he wasn’t interested in getting involved. It doesn’t feel like conspiracy, more like common sense.

Sisu would have lapped up anything he offered. They 'sold' us to a skint (in football terms) cooking oil salesman

He didn’t do them any harm, kept them in the Prem every season and the season they went down they spent a shit load of money to come back up, I’d take that here

No he isn't. But people claiming Mike Ashley wants the club, he would dwarf anything Doug could do financially

Hence if he wanted us, he would have us. 2.5 years down the line and he still hasn't

One of Ashley’s income streams is rental from the football club. He’d lose that straight away and pick up a loss making business in the process. Don’t see him doing that.

You might want to ask a Newcastle fan what that was like ….

Team relegated under him ( and promoted ) no real investment in transfers, wouldn’t engage with the fans, banned local media.

They were protesting to get rid of him.

Let’s just hope bling sells us to him if it’s true or at least gets Ashley to have a big share, it’s clear he hasn’t got the money to take us anywhere near the next level

Why do you think Ashley would have agreed to similar terms to King?

They were relegated at least once and flirted with a few times.

Why do you yearn for the SISU days so much … it’s really odd behaviour

Who cares, would you not take that over what we’ve got now? I’d do anything to have us in the Prem for even 1 season. I’d take staying up in the Prem every season even if we were constantly flirting with relegation

A mate sent me a link to the Festa forum yesterday. Some of the fans now want new ownership and want the Thai lot gone.

Obviously it's no longer the dad in charge, but it did make me reflect on how fickle us football fans can be to ownership.

That's not a dig at anti King posters here. But ultimately the dream owner is massively wealthy, not too involved in running the club, doesnt appear in public

Arguably turned them into a viable outfit for the takeover they subsequently had

If he was interested he could have very easily made a purchase if he’d offered sufficient funds.

Yeh, but that’s the entitled Geordies for you. They weren’t winning the Champions League every season so Ashley was no good. In reality a lot of money was pumped into the club under Ashley, he made mistakes (Joe Kinnear) but there were/are a hell of a lot of worse owners out there.
