1) we don't play that formation and
2) McCann is suspended for the first 3 games
3) that's only 10 men
It will likely be
RCC
Willis
Ricketts
Harries
Kelly-evans
Vlad
Rose
Haynes
Jones
Sordel
Reid
Kelvin Wilson will not be joining us
I'm not making excuses, im being pragmatic and saying we have no idea what the conversation was.Don't make excuses for the 'messiah'.
It was a dick move to let him go.
Oh hell, Mowbray will end up resigning Reda.About to sign for Rotherham... Another one gone
If he can stay injury freeOh hell, Mowbray will end up resigning Reda.
About to sign for Rotherham... Another one gone
Only time will tell. Martin had a better season last season but otherwise had generally been considered something of a liability.Don't make excuses for the 'messiah'.

The same as everything. We can speculate and make bold assumptions as we do, but the reality of being a football fan is we have no idea. Martin may have said to Mowbray that he wants to be playing week in week out this year otherwise he wants to leave, and he's rather know up front and make himself available for a good move than find out last minute....
....of course that may not have happened at all. It just cracks me up how emotional people get about things when they literally don't know the plan yet and we haven't finished in the transfer market clearly. For people not to be able to admit how little we actually know makes me laugh

I do feel we've left it a bit late this year though. Going into the first game with 3 defenders in Willis (who didn't play much last year), ricketts (who finished poorly last year) and one of the kids plus DKE who is untested at right wing back and Haynes who has been tested and was poor last season at the other is pretty bad business.
I thought the whole idea of tactics was to get the best out of what we have. We shouldn't be playing this formation if we don't have the personnel or can't bring them in. We also should have tried other formations in pre season
It's not rushing in and getting crap, it's the close season, time for players to take a rest, butYes that is true, but we didnt miss out over 3 games. We missed out because we failed to win enough from November ish through to the late surge. We need good players in, i am happy to hang on if it means getting that. Sick of icking up crap just tbecause we have rushed down to panic.
It's not rushing in and getting crap, it's the close season, time for players to take a rest, but
More importantly the time to recruit, work on new systems, formations and generally prepare
for the START of the season.
For a professional football club to be so unprepared is unbelievable, and says everything
About where we are as a club. IMHO
With DKE, Willis, Ricketts, Stokes and Haynes currently in our back 5 that is the worst defence in the league.
I completely agree, I'm not blaming Mowbray. To be fair to TM its clear he wanted to get everything done closed season & go into the new season with his squad ready to go, but he is playing with peanuts money wise!!
It must be bloody hard to get deals over the line when you simply dont have the money to compete or make it finacially attractive for these guys to sign before other clubs come in ... he most likely hasn't seen any Madison money, otherwise im sure we wouldn't be struggling to recruit the way we are.
If we sold vincelot for 50k to free up money to sign ( TM said the day before he was sold that one or two will have to go to allow us to do incoming business ) then that sums up where we are financially - 50k for one of best players!!!

Falls on deaf ears mate....unless we have a Wigan budget and can romp the league with it then everything's the owners fault. Is he playing with peanuts? I'd bet he is playing with more than a lot of teams in our league.
I am not sure people understand the whole budget thing and that pretty much every team is in the same position.

Who's getting on their high horse about it?In fairness, you seem to get on your high horse about this more than anyone else. I can see your point, and you might not be wrong, but to jump to Mowbray's defence every single time is just a bit silly in my opinion.
He is a good manager, but he does make some mistakes. Letting Martin go might not be one of them, but failing to replace him before the season starts certainly is.

but it doesnt apper that way though, i mean were possibly losing out to the likes of rotherham for christ sake!! if we had similar or better budget why do we keep getting gazumped, thats my only moan! Our managers do have an easy job really, whatever the result they never get the blame.
I would say either a lot of our fans are unrealistic or they can't see that it is the same for most other league 1 clubs.
I think what's happened is Mowbray has aimed for Championship quality players hoping for a smaller squad that would walk the league. What's happened is those players have had better offers elsewhere and we're now short going into the season. I don't want to see a situation like last year signing players like Lorentzon and having to wait 2 months before they are ready to play.
We missed out on playoffs by hardly anything last season, if we end up in the same position this year after a slow start it will be because our transfer policy has been poor.
Pretty fair summary, would agree with most of that. Still hoping that RE the bold bit above, he still might have them on the way it's just taking longerI think what's happened is Mowbray has aimed for Championship quality players hoping for a smaller squad that would walk the league.
