Yes but he’s been before - a right messTo boldly cum........
And the Police! At least REM made a great record about it all !
Why hasn't anyone been up there since the early 70s? You'd think that some prat like Richard Branson would have gone up by now considering that they managed to do it fifty years ago with a few cornflake boxes and a calculator.
Man City sing Blue Moon. And the Police!
I reckon they recorded it as well as a 'just in case' should the live pictures have failed/broken up. Imagine the conspiracy theories had they gone up, not had any pictures and said " we did go up there, you've just got to take our word for it"? For me the fact the Russians didn't dispute it when the space race was such a big thing says a great deal. Nowadays both sides would be coming up with all sorts of outlandish nonsense to discredit the other.
One thing I've always wondered though is the satellites we've sent to the far reaches of the solar system billions of miles away and manage to get data and pictures from but we still can't get a reliable mobile signal if you're more than a few miles from a transmitter. The O2 is sponsored by EE, and I can't get a signal on my phone in that place even though I with EE!
And for the record the Earth & Mars apparently (so some geezer on R5live said) only align correctly for a few days every two yrs for us to get there, & it would take 7months to get there! It took Voyager 2, 12 years to reach “close” to Neptune, travelling at 35,000mph. And it takes Neptune 165 earth years to complete one orbit. I like to learn about space and felt I should share these two facts.
Apparently man knows more about our solar system than it does about Earth’s oceans.
...And now I’ll go. Thanks for your time.
Watched the CBS coverage "live" yesterday, hope they do the same on Sat/Sun, it's was quite inspiring. There's a cracking web site Apollo 11 in Real-timewhere you can scroll through the whole mission if you're geeky enough!I reckon they recorded it as well as a 'just in case' should the live pictures have failed/broken up. Ask a primary school teacher - I suspect they will say the kids become somewhat hyper-excitable & often more unruly when there is a full moon. The sun & moon impact tides on large expenses of water...so probably impact small ones like we have in our bodies too to a degree. Significant enough to influence our attitude & behaviour maybe? They're talking about the Moon on the radio now. A doctor in a hospital said when there's a full moon they definitely see an increase in patients acting strange etc. I thought that was a myth ? Obviously not !
