Coventry accepted a provisional Boro bid and the player expressed an interest in a switch to the Riverside.
But while cash-strapped Coventry were keen to sell they needed to bring in a striker first and deals for Cardiff’s Jon Parkin and Cody McDonald of Norwich were planned.
On a day of tense brinkmanship the move for Parkin fell through and the price was hiked so Boro pulled out - although they remain keen.

More sisu lies??? No surely not?!...

I have heard that he would have gone to Boro if the bidding had got to a certain point which it didn't.... I can only assume that is why Parkin was brought here to be ready for if Juke goes!

A good way of not selling someone is to hike the price... Just saying...

and of course everything you read in the papers is correct ........:facepalm:Might just be Boro and the likes making mischief

We didnt sell him and every player has his price even Ronaldo. At least if they were going to sell there was a plan B ..... not a good plan B IMO but at least something

I've said all along the only reason Juke went nowhere was the fact the Parkin deal collapsed. Igwe not telling lies when he said we rejected a bids for him, but sure as hell not telling the full story as to why we didn't sell..
Slippery fekers!

From the open letter:
"Despite a number of approaches, we have declined substantial offers for Lukas Jutkewitch and, as widely reported, other players, in order to maintain our commitment to compete at this level."

Nowhere does it say they were never going to sell him.
I read it like this: We will accept any offer for any player that will allow us to go and get a better player to increase the quality of the team.

Everyone is for sale - all SISU said was that they rejected offers for him. Of course he'd have been sold if the price was right, as would any player at any club bar maybe the top 8 clubs in the world.

this doesn't mean i like them by the way, just trying to be reasonable.

Seems that we will soon get a couple of tests as to the truth of Iggy Oggy's open letter - if Boro come in with a bid to land Juke in a loan deal, and whether or not we get someone on loan.

Why would we want to send him out on loan? Obviously the wages side of it, but that is hardly a spit in the ocean.....to me it is Boro trying to unsettle the lad. THey say he was going, sisu say he wasn't.......can only go on facts. The fact being he is still here. Cody in happy days!!

The nice comments he made about Boro fans on Twitter indicate that something was going on. It seems entirely feasible to me that we had vaguely accepted a bid on the condition that Parkin was brought in.

As for the idea that we sell high and then reinvest that money on better players...no, that's not what we do at all. How anyone could form such an opinion of our transfer "strategy" over recent months is quite baffling!

What we do is sell a player, or lose them on a free after failing to renew their contrct in good time, then maybe (if we're lucky) get in a replacement for less money and on lower wages. Alternatively we use a youth team player. The profit from such transactions is then used to keep the club going. Ever decreasing circles, which the board dress up as them "funding" the club-whilst the playing squad gets gradually weaker.

Loan with a view to perm happens all the time. IMO such moves should be outlawed-what's the point of even having a transfer deadline if you can do this?

Right, what's your point! Frank Lampard was on loan to 3rd tier Swansea the year they got relegated to the fourth tier... Doesn't make him a third tier footballer!

There are quite a few Norwich fans who appreciate that he isn't good enough for the Prem but still disappointed he was let go... It may have escaped your attention but we are a lower-bottom half Championship club and McDonald actually represents a potentially intelligent signing. Who would you have preferred given our situation?

Why do you think were a bottom half championship club? Has it anything to do with the quality of players we get? Of course I hope he's a hit,I just don't get it when people start to overhype the guy before he's kicked a ball.

He did well for Norwich when they were in the third tier, but they soon realised he was not good enough for their championship campaign-so they loaned him to Gillingham (4th tier I believe). He did very well there, but at twenty five years old (I think) , we have to be careful not to expect too much in the immediate future.

He may well be as good as we can afford right now, but be mindful of the weight of expectancy that we place on him, as it could destroy his confidence if he fails to be an immediate success!

It was always my suspicion that the Parkin business was connected with Jukey going.
SISU are only prepared to trade up, we had a narrow escape this window, I don't think we will be so lucky in January (or even b4 if loan happens)

Easy! I can vouch for OSB not being very happy when he got back from his hols to realise that our deadline day strengthening consisted of one proven player out, one unproven player in. That he later explained that SISU are going to sell players to pay for club running costs doesn't mean he's their biggest fan. He may explain why things are being done in an objective way, but it doesn't mean he always agrees with them.

It's all a bit Judean People's Front!

There's a surprise, classic BS from SISU. They would have gladly sold him,but wimped out at the last minute and thought,I tell you what,we can say to the fans that we rejected all offers and he's too important to us. Now they accepted an offer.... disgrace. Please get them out.

It's hope. I can't get too excited either, simply due to the level he's been playing at, not to mention my crushed spirit, but I really bloody pray he's up to the job because nobody else is going to do it!

SISU should heed Sir Walter Scott's famous saying:

''Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive''

Looks like quite a tangled web at the moment...........:blue:

1. "Resisted substantial offers for Juke"

2. "Coventry accepted a provisional Boro bid"

Don't know how accepting a bid is resisting an offer?

If this is all true of course!
