Sir Bobby Robson and Ian Holloway were the two that instantly sprang to mind.

No-one EVER seems to have a bad word for Paul Scholes and Jeff Stelling also has a bit of a cult status.

A random one I would throw in is Dave Whelan, always seems to talk sense, knows the game inside out and what he has done for Wigan is sensational.

Jim Holton had the pleasure of playing a few games alongside him in Local Sunday League.
Jimmy Holmes similar to above.
Bobby Robson a real gent who looked after his players
Lee Carsley, really good pro with more talent than given credit for...I think his move to Sheff United is a massive loss to our set up. But can't help but wish him all the best

To be fair to the guy (and I know he wasn't the greatest on the pitch or even here for long) The Edge always seemed a really really nice bloke. Interacting with fans and posing for photos and seemed to get on really well with most of the squad

Everton football club - once took as handicapped everton fan to a match against city - they allowed me to sit with him and thoroughly spoilt him even with nearby parking spot all at nil cost for him Was a boxing day and we WON
wonderful memories of a wonderful club and he still talks about it

Nah I'm one of the few lucky people that it hasn't happened to! We used the same training complex as the big boys a few years ago. JT refused to sign autographs or pose for pics with kids and was generally really obnoxious.

Yes Paul Merson did score the winner against us. So what we would of gone down even if we won, He took drugs and gambled but then look at George Best? Gazza? Alex Higgins in the snooker even Cloughy had his off field problems.

George Curtis - met him a few times and was always good company. One year I was working for a building firm over the summer and we were putting in new partitioning in the ground ready for the start of the season. The job overran and we were still working on it on the Friday night before the first game - we had to get permission to use the floodlights so we could see what we were doing and all sorts. About 3am I was sweeping along the terraces making sure no bits and bobs were left behind from the work when I realised someone was sweeping next to me - it was George helping out. Got it done in time to get the safety certificate and we all got given tickets to the game which we won against Everton.

Aron Gunnarsson was a real friendly guy. Seen him a couple of times walking arounf Bedworth town centre and he was always stopping for a chat. He also hated SISU. Good guy Good guy

Loads mentioned. Robson, clough (does he count as he and Taylor actually agreed to come to ccfc?) but Im gonna be controversial and say robbie savage. Wanker as a player but always comes across a bloke you could have a laugh with in the pub

Have to say Gary Lineker always comes across as a nice bloke, even though he's a Leicester fan! His record of never being booked would tend to back that up. Also, on the MOTD theme, Shearer similarly comes across well.

seriously though, Frank Worthington. the nicest sportsman i have ever met is cricketer Geoff "windy" Miller. i'm not a cricket fan but i have had the pleasure of meeting him twice, very approachable, very friendly and very very funny. he has some great stories especially about a pre season friendly in Germany of all places.

When I was still living in Huddersfield I used to play 5-a-side with a group of mates after work.

Shortly after I moved to Coventry they were playing & they had uneven sides. Frank Worthington came along to watch & a mate of mine jokingly invited him to make up the numbers so they had even sides. Turns out he had his kit on underneath his shirt & trousers, got "changed" by the side of the pitch & joined in.
He was older than most of my mates Dads & still ran rings around them, doing things with the ball that they couldn't understand, let alone replicate. Top bloke apparently & I'm gutted I missed it.

Met Robbie Fowler who was a good laugh, as was Neville Southall. Met Sir Alex Ferguson a couple of times, and he was top notch, nothing like the figure on the touchline.

Had the mispleasure to meet Lee Hendrie and Bosnich after the Villa had beaten us, who were a pair of thick tools of the highest order. The worst I ever met was Howard Kendall, absolute charmless nobend, still a far site better than Motty the most obnoxious arse I ever met at the football.

Steve Bruce.. always comes across as a decent bloke.. and i remember karen brady being asked who the best manager she worked with & she said bruce, when asked why she said " well for a start he's the only manager that ive never had to sign off an expense form for each month.. he never submitted a single one. He got paid a wage he was happy with and that was good enough for him"

I met Ian Dowie a couple of years ago at a friends do in London, genuinely top bloke and very funny fella. This was post-Cov sacking and seemed extremely gutted he got the boot.
