Let's except mediocre all the way to the end of the season then and be happy with a mid table position.
Nothing, absolutely nothing, is going to change in this team.
In fact the injuries and no strength in depth (again) will see results get worse from now on.
Blackpool, as the post I commented on.
But they are a team with crap owners that have had success. As was asked.ah, sorry, you must have commented on a post on someone I have blocked, didn't see it
Blackpool, really not sure they are the team we should be aspiring to be like. a complete mess of a club, like us

They are a cautionary tale though. Many said at the time, 'why can't we be like Blackpool'? the same as I see some other clubs mentioned as an example to follow wrt the current suituation.Success? They won a play off final in May. We won a trophy in April. And we can still win a play off final next May. They're hardly Barcelona....

Anyway as ever, there are plenty of things that need changing about our club before the team manager!
The Irony of naming Blackpool as proof of a crisis club that can get promoted is that after 30 games last season they had 41 points which would have them sitting 13th currently this season and if some of our ill informed fans had their way Gary Bowyer would have been sacked before he had chance to get them promoted. We’re only 20 points behind their season total which is a position they got promoted from. Some fans need a dose of reality.
A huge over reaction to this latest defeat which is consistent to the away form all season. Too much is being made of Forest Greens position in the league which is now false given the squad they have since the window opened. Yes there a village side but a wealthy one at that. The village club tag adds hype to the defeat nothing more.
MR job shouldn't be in question right now or even if we fail to make the play offs, it's very hard to overturn a clubs fortunes over 12 months. What he's done so far is acceptable to me and I see progress under him with more given time and another summer to rebuild and structure the squad of players to go again and another year of experience under his belt in this league should we go again in L2.
it's not an over reaction to a defeat, it 's a reaction to the performance which was abject.
If we carry on performing like that away we will be very lucky to go up. Calls for Robins to go are an over reaction I agree with you on that.

Unfortunately it's L2 and abject performances are the level we're at.
Our away form is on par with Exeter who would class themselves as promotion hopefuls and experienced in what's required to get out of this league with a manager who's well equipped and experienced in this league after play off near misses.
We're a club on the slide who have quickly found a level this season adapting and hopefully will bounce on with that in the future.
That is my fear , apathetic fans that think a lovely away day at MK will make up for a run out at non league every week
Where did I say I accepted mediocrity?
Where did I say I'd be happy with a mid-table position?
Italia, we differ on a number of viewpoints but you're not shouty like some on here so I read your posts with interest. But respectfully, don't put words in my mouth. We do have strength in depth in midfield and defence...if we didn't we'd be much lower down the league. We need two better keepers and more potency up top. Bringing in JCH is hopefully a decent step to addressing the latter of those two positions.
We're 8th FFS and a couple of wins from 2nd (but note Otis' point about others having to lose...some will). I rarely post on here after a defeat as the idiocy ratings on some of the posts fly off the charts. By all accounts, we were awful on Saturday...it was a crap result against a lowly team. It's been and gone. We're going to lose more games before the end of the season...as will Luton, Notts County, Wycombe etc. Robins needs to address the away form but even with poor away form, we're still 100% in the mix not only for play offs but autos as well.
If we do go up, I can't wait to dig this thread out again. If we don't, I'll happily hold my hands up and say I was wrong but there's 3 and half months of the season left. Reading some of the posts you'd think we were 23rd, 2 points from safety with a game to go....
bang onWe just can't play Doyle and Kelly together in a 4-4-2. At the start of the season we were aiming to play a 4-2-3-1 with them protecting the defence and then sending the ball long to Vincenti who would be able to release Jones Andreu and McNulty to score goals. That obviously cant happen now so we've moved to a 4-4-2, the long balls mean we need a target man playing which is why Biamou has had so much game time, nobody else in the team can play this role. Kelly's injury meant Bayliss coming in to the side and completely changing the dynamic as we had someone in the middle that would drive 20 yards forward and pull defenders out of position. Now Kelly's back Robins seems hell bent on playing him with Doyle meaning the huge gap between midfield and attack has returned. There's no point playing JCH and McNulty together in this system because the ball would just come straight back at us and we'd spend the majority of the game in our own half. The midfield is key to this and Robins has to realise it. The frustration comes not from losing to FGR it comes from losing to FGR playing a system that has seen us lose similar games all season.

I think the question you are asking is "is it acceptable that we're within a couple of points of the automatics, as part of the chasing pack and playing very competitively"? , then the answer is an unambiguous YES.Really ? Do you think that being 8th place is acceptable given we were relegated down here?
Can you explain why we are not in the top three ?
I wouldn't bother Weeman, Italia just made shit up to justify the waffle he came out with. Nowhere in your post did you say accept mediocrity, the post was balanced and rightfully said lets not have a knee jerk reaction at the loss, at which Italia states that's you accepting a mid table finish. Sometimes I wonder what planet he is on.
(Cue mindless ramblings that I now love SISU and want us to remain in league two)
That's you and me both. No turnaround in our away form and no little unbeaten run and I think that is us pretty much out of it.true. But I said a couple of weeks ago, there are 8 or 9 side neck and neck. I fully expect 2 or 3 to find that extra bit of consistency and pull away from the rest. Saturday tells me it won't be us.
That would still give us a chance of the play offs and I think this year is even closer than usual so our home form might be enough to sneak into the play offs but I'm not hopeful.
Success? They won a play off final in May. We won a trophy in April. And we can still win a play off final next May. They're hardly Barcelona....
Yes the FGR result was extremely frustrating and I think everyone is feeling that but calling for MR head is ridiculous at this stage. For me promotion is the only outcome this season, we have to get out of this league the first time of asking or we risk sitting mid table.
I feel confident in MR ability to do this and still confident that we can get into playoffs at least but as the games tick by I am not convinced we are consistent enough to get 2nd or 3rd which will be disappointing.
Injuries have been key and I don't think we fully realise the impact that TA and JJ injuries have had as an attacking threat. These are players you cannot just replace instantly and have been a major contributing factor to our lack of goals.
If we remain in this league, my fear is that the continued pursuit of our key players will come to light next year if we remain in L2 and therefore MR will have to start over again.
Promotion is success as was getting to the PL a few years ago.
This is where you confuse me.
It seems that winning the cup is better than getting promotion

Really daft to compare Blackpool with Barcelona. It doesn't seem like that all Italia. You used Blackpool as a team who have had success. I'm saying they're hardly Barcelona.
And as Tony has pointed out since, they had 31 points this time last season. We're 9 points better off than one of the teams who got promoted.....

I'm reading into it as 'mediocre' because you seem to think everything is going to plan and will work out okay.
I'm watching the performances on the pitch and it isn't gonna happen. Something needs to change.
I had a similar conversation last year when people were saying it will all work out. Effectively making excuses for the club.
I said earlier in the season that if we are near promotion places in January that it is worthwhile Sisu chucking extra money in for players.
They would get their money back with bells on with promotion.
No guarantees but surely thats what ownership is about?
