As many worry on letting the likes of Vik or Gus move on, who have we made mistakes on under Robins?

All had their best spells at City, many were disappointed when each of them left, begging them to stay and saying how we would be better off keeping them. Tbh I did myself particularly with Bayliss and McNulty. Many I'm sure I've forgotten but those are the ones I can think of who looked to move for better and whilst it may have worked for some in the short term financially, the club got it right every single time. That must be pretty unrivalled.

The only exception I can think of is Hyam, but even there we managed the better of them and finished above.

Robins has been vindicated every single time and all those who left for higher or to further their opportunities have failed and we've gone past them. Most said Vik after his loan period wouldn't make it, but he got the best from him too.

As we look now Hiwila 1 in 20 odd for Ross Co, Biamou without a club, Burge at Northampton, McNulty in 3rd tier USA, Willis on trial at Shrewsbury and on it goes.

I hope Hamer stays, but he has a valuation and we have a system and style of playing. Forget the owners, forget the players, the only genuine important assets imo are Robins and Viveash.

Could possibly add Sam McCallum too but the jury still out there. I rate him and would take him back but not a £3m player we sold.

Possibly one for the genuine negative list is JCH we never got the best from, but he's still currently a league below us.

Ryan Giles (Wolves). Robins failed to get a tune out of him in two loan spells but he was excellent at Middlesbro last season.

I think he was spot on as well!

He was in terms of himself as I said in the post financially, but footballing wise he went backwards. The clamour for him to stay akin of that we've seen with Vik, yet the 800k we got helped us move forward and he didn't exactly tear it up at Reading. We've gone past him and Reading. If anything it vindicates my point that Robins got the tune out of him, knew the time to let go at the right price even others would push the boat out to hold him. He was clearly right to sell him.

Agree, although the money we got enabled us to bring Godden who got us promoted and we doubled our 500k to £1m. Also the jury still out at the level we're at now whilst prolific in L1. Big season ahead for him.

He was in the league team of the year though and both him and Willis moved to Sunderland because they thought they had a better chance of promotion with them yet we went up and they stayed L1. Both satisfyingly remained below us even when Sunderland got out.

Robins improved from his first spell as a manager here,also has improved further since coming back in this his second spell which he got his best signing adi Vivash.

Footballing-wise, Sparky has certainly landed on his feet but only because he bounced back up off his over-extended arse. No doubt, for that one season, he was the messiah we needed at that hour. And he was rightly praised for his efforts on and off the ball. But after leaving us (for money), he spent how long at Reading and how much football did he get ? At loan at Dundee Utd ? Or Sunderland ? He may be getting some football in America but at the tier he's at, I can see better standards at my local parks. He's said himself, he's there for the lifestyle in LA and money. He's become a football mercenary. The way he and his agent outed himself to go to Reading proved the direction he was looking. If he'd stayed, his second season with us would have soured our memories I think. So no, Robins got what he needed from a player for that season and released at the right time.

It’s clear that for Robins the player’s personality is a massive factor.
You have to trust that he knows the players better than we do.

Sometimes a player can look good to us but they had a bad attitude, so he is happy to see them go

We made a slight profit not that much - in truth most players wouldn’t have done a lot better as they were essentially L1 or L2 level anyway

Most were L1 or L2 but that still didn't stop, people venting their spleen suggesting how we'd never recover without them, yet each season we've improved on the previous one.

Something switched him on. Portsmouth and Us failed, Barnsley did better, Ipswich are the winners. Let's see what happens this season with him. My guess is that he well struggle unless he has a team of monsters playing with him.
