Moving back from free kick to clear the wall, legal? (1 Viewer)

Chelsea did this today and scored - sounds like it should be Ok as you are retreating from the opposition goal and this is usually disadvantageous but on the other hand the West Ham wall was then 12 yards away rather than 10. I suppose the defenders were rooted to the sprayed line otherwise they should've just moved up accordingly? Surely though free kicks should be taken from where the offence occurred?

Can't be legal. Where would you draw the line, what if they wanted to move to the left or the right to get a better angle?

No a free kick is to be taken where the foul offence occurs (not that this ever happens)
