Sheffield United will have more buying power than us. With Atkins at the helm I'm now expecting them to challenge for automatics and the title, where as we will be a bit behind them hopefully challenging for top 6.

They get much bigger crowds than us and own their own stadium...must help them with a top 3 budget in L1.
I can't imagine we would pull in crowds on par with Sheffield It'd if we were successful in this league.
What if we were to spread a rumour in Sheffield that they are crap?
Hasn't helped them get promoted for the past few seasons............They get much bigger crowds than us and own their own stadium...must help them with a top 3 budget in L1.
The longer we stay down here the harder it will be to get out of the league with big teams dropping down, managers trickling down the divisions and more teams spending money.
Roughly speaking, dont they attract around 17k for home games? We would easily get that if a semi successful season, even more so with how starved we are of having a good full season. In saying that, they do own their own stadium and have more buying power than us so I expect them to be up there. I am shocked they sacked Clough.

Didn't someone quantify on here once that the profits after costs on a years pie and beer sales was around £100,000 ? We pay £100,000 rent now and I'm not sure about the Corporate arrangement/split ? but the difference between us and other clubs revenue streams { especially in this division} is not as great as SISU would like you to think.
So there is no need to own our own ground again? I am surprised that more clubs aren't looking at us with envy to be honest.

I wouldn't be too sure on that. It has been a long time since we have had any success and the fans including the many stay away fans are all hungry for it.
I can tell you one thing all the lost fans will come back in droves BUT most importantly it all down to SISU's marketing strategy and there ability to promote this success to the masses.
I think it's more than the pie and beer sales you refer to. Meeting, Conference and Exhibition space could easily garner £2-5m per annum.
I often forget that when we were in the top-flight HR was a sell out every week. We never got crowds of sub 12000

The time when our attendances were so low was when violence was about. Just about all clubs suffered. Attendances were on their way back up slowly as the violence got less. But it was a long process. If you was ever about at them times you will understand why a lot of families stopped going. We even went as low as 8,000 IIRC.
I can remember going in 1995 vs Wimbledon and there was less than 10k there!
Not easily. The arena was said to be making a loss when there was no rent being paid. And the arena is in a good location for people travelling to the area. Not only that but there is a lot of competition in the area. And all of it it well established. If it was so good why didn't SISU purchase it instead of risking losing it trying to get a few million knocked off the price?
