I would love him to stay, but as the club have said that they will not discuss contracts until the end of the season, doesn't that stance leave Murphy somewhat in the dark and if I were him I would at least be looking for potential employers for the next season if a deal cannot be done with us.
You are right, the club did say until we are safe, but I can't see that until the end of the season. Just can't see the club negotiating contract talks with all this FFP crap and still playing at Sixfields and offering a contract when we don't even know where we are playing next season. Also, do the club negotiate a contract based on playing at Sixfields or the Ricoh? Not sure but as FFP is linked to turnover, could Murphy (or the club) include in the contract that if a return to the Ricoh happened then would his wages go up proportionately based on crowd attendance because the rules say the club can provide budgetary info at the start of the season and then can provide updates throughout. Imagine if the contracts were based on Sixfields and we did return, how much would the club make with a massive increase in attendances.
