Anybody else in the ground think they have made the pitch a yard shorter each side.. It might be because of the tv camera .. But definitely seems a lot more grass at the sides ....... Then again maybe I'm pissed
1 1/2 yards at the touchlines and 2 yards at the goal lines. Assuming the pitch was the same size as the olympic matches. So it is 4 yards shorter and 3 yards narrower.
I was definitely taken in a couple of years ago because me and my mate used to relentlessly say "That would still be in on the old pitch" to wind people up. Back when we were in the Telegraph stand.
Could well have been narrowed further still though.
Seems the realistic explanation is that we have the pitch narrow, but the Olympics were coming and I would guess it had to be widened for that. It would then have been narrowed again to back to what it was for us after the Olympics finished.
There are some variances at clubs but they must all keep within the regulation sizes.
Usually 110 - 120 yards x 70 - 80 yards.
Most English clubs in the top two or three divisions use 115 x 74. variations apear depending on the club/stadium.
I would suspect you must lodge the information and can't be changing it around each week!
