As much as I'd like to think this is all bullshit, the move away from Coventry was a bluff before it happened. And it did happen.
We'd all like that, although they're starting to take this bluff a bit to far if it is indeed a bluff?
Exactly. If they do start to consult the fans you'd think they serious.
Hate to say it but if Sisu/Otium continue down this ludicrous path then it will be a lot longer than 5 years. Need to find a suitable site, agree a price (we know how Sisu like to make an offer), aqquire said land, get plans drawn up for outline planning, sweet talk any local residents that tell them to fuck off (unless they are planning it in the Gobi desert), continue to try and sweet talk local residents, outline planning refused, Sisu/Otium appeal (they do love an appeal), get outline planning, change the plans to suit what they want, go for planning, speak to local council about infrastructure, more defiance by local residents, planning refused, another appeal by Sisu/Otium, how many years down the line would this be without concrete in the ground. They are a world of fucking dreamers, the lot of them and anybody who is sucked in by this needs their head looking at. I live up by Brown's Lane and Peugeot tried to build a 24 hour distribution center there. The land had already been used as commercial and I'm sure it still took over 3 years for outline planning before it was finally beaten by the local residents, and that was a huge organisation like Peugeot, do you think that small time Sisu/Otium will be able to carry the same clout as them. No area, village or small town is going to want a new football ground with all that comes with on their doorstep. so the outskirts or just further is never going to happen in my opinion.
The above is a post I said earlier, this is why I think they can take this bluff around the wrekin and back for all I care. This time frame they talk about is bollocks because no-one knows what oppostion they will encounter on the way. Local residents are the voting public and if we can bring a change in government, how easy would it be to stop a football ground being built. In all honesty, do you really believe people would want Legoland in their back garden ? How many supporters do you think we will have anyway by the time they start the mythical ground works. It is easy to set up these kind of groups, doesn't mean diddly squat to me.

They haven't taken it any further than they did all these months ago, its still just talk.
By consult, do you mean tell?
A bit like how we were consulted about the Northampton move?
Am i missing something here ? Don't we already have a stadium in Coventry ?

“The board and the owner want the fans to be at the heart of the whole process"
But it was all just talk that we wouldn't be playing in Cov this season..
And then finding someone to buy it from them at a profit.Come on. Sharing a ground with another team is completely different thing to finding land, getting planning permission from whichever council's area you decide to play in, finding money to buy the land, finding money to build the stadium > then actually building the thing.
Maybe you are right however can I point another post which also bares in mind.
My point being whether we choose to believe it or whether we believe it won't happen for x amount of reasons, Sisu have shown they can do what they set out too..

Ok, let me entertain the notion for at least a moment. just say they go ahead with the new stadium. With what I said above and other examples such as Shrewsbury (which Seppalla herself used as an example) if a new ground is to be built, I think we can all agree that the chances of it getting planning permission in Coventry is slim at best. So you have the possibility of a huge new stadium with businesses attached in the countryside, possibly greenbelt, or even conservation area. With those two options getting knocked back for obvious reasons, what next, I know there are a few flood plains out there, could they choose one of them ? Yes, we all thought (and hoped) Sixfields was a bluff but if this is what they have a contingency for, what is it really costing them if they think they will get the Ricoh. If the worst comes to the worst for them and they do have to build Legoland, then that is an awful lot more of their money and even more money from their investors. I would imagine by this time, their investors might start to ask what their money is going on, don't you ? I know people have said but their wealthy investors wouldn't have a clue, but in my job I deal with a lot of very wealthy people and I would say most of them keep a very good track of where their money goes, it is why they are rich in the first place.
All I am saying is we shouldn't rule out that Sisu will build Lego Land, but we can't ignore the fact they are setting things up to make us believe as if it's something Sisu are considering.
I agree, however we shouldn't rule Sisu taking this route out, some people believe that a new stadium in null and void, I wouldn't say Sisu see it that way.
If I am consulted about the new stadium, I think I will suggest that they install a unicorn-racing track around the pitch.
Far-fetched? Well, they started it....
Should never rule anything out I guess no. But this whole plan of theirs is so unsustainable and financially ridiculous I just find it hard to believe them. And in the same way you shouldn't rule me out of becoming the next president of Swaziland
I can ignore it quite comfortably thanks, as much as I think they are a bunch of shit houses, this is one step too far for them me thinks. But should I be wrong (not unheard of although not common) I'm look forward to the unicorn racing a poster mentions on another thread
Yeah as soon as bricks start being laid (or whatever they do for stadiums nowadays - concrete being poured?) I'll start to believe it.
Until that point however...
Hell, even Arena 2000 managed a glossy brochure while some gas towers were still up!
They do not have the funds to build a stadium and never will. This is all just delaying tactics and keeps us fans picking sides.
They are already throwing money away every week. This is investors money and these people want a return on investment.
Fisher said tonight it would cost 20m plus, start at 12-15k, be a maximum of 20-22k seats (he said there was no need for it to ever be any bigger) and based on a 60 acre site that will also house the academy.
Anyone think of any 60 acre sites that are available?
