Now this would be great if it was anything like these:

Not sure on the location though, it used to be a nightmare going to a normal splashpool session sometimes. An out of town one like the one in Stoke may be better but either way would still use it!

I think they mean replace as in the old one is going. I've just found this -

"The new venue is expected to be built in the city centre on the current site of the council building Spire House, at the junction of New Union Street and Greyfriars Lane, which will be vacated as part of the council move to Friargate."

Where abouts is that?

Edit : Just looked and yes its between The Squirrel and down towards the Glasshouse.

Might be even more tricky to get to and park than the current place

Yep, agree parking is a right royal pain in the arse in town. Maybe (common sense alert) they'll encompass parking within the design..............

Looks great!! Let's hope we don't end up with a half baked, scaled down, cheapo version of what we really want.

Wrong place
Would have been better Skydome side If there wasn't a great big bloody IKEA there
Can anyone think of a site more on the perimeter of town?

It does have underground parking there though, Wingy. Not too bad a location I don't think.

If there were space at the Skydome, then yep, would have been ideal, but New Union St isn't a bad shout. Only 3-4 mins walk from the train station and about 30 seconds walk from Broadgate.

Yeah I'm not right off It Otis.
Sure It can work there, just think that's a prime bit of land right smack In the middle of town.
Also would hate to lose what Is I think the last bit of green space In the centre.

There's no green space there though is there? Spire House is just one big monstrous concrete lump.

All along the frontage from the law courts to the corner in front of the CH about 20 metres deep from the kerb with a few nice trees in there also IIRC.

That's not Spire House though is it. Spire House is in New Union Street. If they just build on Spire House area there will be no greenery touched at all.

Yep, agree.

Nice to hear about so many positive things lately and the Godiva was a roaring success too. Nearly 150,000 people there over the 2 and half days.
