I'd imagine Peterborough may have a better budget than us to be honest. If Rotherham go down we could well have the smallest budget in the league.Hopefully if things stay as they are and we manage to stay in the championship and those currently coming down and up it looks a far more difficult league next year.
MR will really need to pull a few strings to progress next season. The main goal this season was to avoid relegation and cement ourselves in the league. Only the diluded expected anything more however there are three or four teams who you would have expected to hopefully finish below us ie Wycombe, Rotherham, Shef W based on their points deduction.
Next season it looks like we will be replacing these clubs with shef Utd, WBA and either fulham or Newcastle from the Prem all with far bigger budgets than ours a long with parachute payments.
Coming up will be Hull and Peterborough along with possibly scumberland.
with the exception of Peterborough again bigger budgets than us.
looking at this the championship will be a lot stronger next season than this year and realistically would we be favourites to be the new Wycombe.
what does MR need to do in the transfer market to compete next season and will Sisu give him a competitive budget to do it now we will be back at the Ricoh ?
Think I agree with most of this. The budget will be based solely on what SISU perceive will come through the door, they won’t be putting their hand in their pocket to magically create a massive transfer fund. They have been consistent with a message for a number of years now that the club will be self sustainable so I guess budget wise more than this year but by how much? Target will be something like lower mid table.Lots and probably not.
GK and two CBS and a LWB is a must. Need a big strong striker and an AM/Winger or two depending on how Jones comes back.
Doable with loans but we’d need to spend to get the really good ones, looks like you need to spend upwards of £1m per player and £10k/week wages, if we’re going to be the next fish up the chain from where we were in L1, we need to be buying the types of players we were selling: Wilson, Maddison, McCallum, Bayliss, Chaplin. All went for £1-3m up front plus add ons.
So I’d say to do it properly you’re looking at £10m+ investment in fees and a wage budget of at least £15m/season. And I can’t see Sisu providing either of those.
Best we can hope for is same again: a couple of signings around £1m, a couple of cheap gambles, the odd free, a full compliment of loans.
Taking the same fees as last summer:
£1.3m on Hamer -> GK
£900k on Walker -> CB
£600k on Sheaf -> LWB
£0 on O’Hare -> CM (James)
Cheap gambles (Hilßner, Dacosta) -> AM, CB
Loans -> AM, ST, CB, others
You really would be happy starting Kelly and James in a 2 next year...Potential 11
GK - New no.1
LWB - Ried
LCB - New CB (Van Aken on a freebie from Sheff Weds??)
CB - Osti
RCB - Rose or Pask
RWB - Dabo
LCM - Kelly
RCM - James
CAM - O’hare
LS - Walker
RS - ....

If Reid isn’t pushing for the bench when we have no other fit LWBs is he really going to be first choice next season?

He’s been injured

Coming back from an injury needs to adjust stillIf Reid isn’t pushing for the bench when we have no other fit LWBs is he really going to be first choice next season?
Hes played 1 game at u23. Theres a bit of a difference in bringing back Godden or Kelly into the first team, than bringing in Reid who has been injured and never played for us.So has everyone else pretty much. He’s been playing U23 recently hasn’t he?

We could really do with Derby going down and Rotherham staying up. Derby owner talking about Champions League and, although he sounds bonkers, you'd still expect some significant investment there plus they're one of the clubs who will benefit from a decent sized fan base being back.
I would also like Sunderland to miss out on promotion as they are likely to have a big budget next season.
They will miss out on autos now, it was in their hands 3 games ago after an unbeaten 12 game run but they've choked at just the right time and suffered back to back losses for the first time this season.I would also like Sunderland to miss out on promotion as they are likely to have a big budget next season.
I would like it to be confirmed a couple games before so we can bed in the players like Eccles and Reid and Tavares instead of loan players like McCallum, James and GyokeresWould like us to confirm our Championship status with a game to spare, so we can give Reid a go to see how he gets on.
Would like Lincoln or Blackpool as Walker or Armand would innevitably score a couple of goals against themAgreed - Oxford, Blackpool or Lincoln would be better for us

If we stay in the championship, and being back at the Ricoh, this would be a good time for Susu to sell.. maybe?
He is only 18 (19 next month). Hope he makes it, but it would be daft to rely on a lad of that age nailing down that position for the season. The other lad Newton is promising too, but again - very inexperienced.
Is that something you do before having a shit ?Premotion push
