We have done well with non league players over the years. Way back in the Jimmy Hill days Ernie Machin, John Tudor and Willie Carr all went on to be top division stars, then later we had Sean Flynn, Lee Hurst, the centre half one, Paul Furlong, Andy Williams, David Busst, and of course Stuart Pearce all played top level. And now we have Chris Stokes our best player imo. We apparently now have a proper scouting network now so perhaps we will unearth more, they are definitely there to find.
Are you all forgetting something they will command a fee and SISU will not pay

The problem may be wages as some may be part time with a good job alongside so it may not be a good move money wise.
Think it's very negative to say we cannot afford a player from non league, especially a player from conference north.
Tho as pointed out they require a sensible wage to cover some of them leaving there full time jobs to Peruse there dream.
After some research it looks like we've already been scouting around.

Only some Steve my nephew can do it as he lives at home and it's his dream (which will be reality in the summer when I am told he will sign pro for a league one club)still but others in his team have good jobs that make it so the figures don't add up.
At the risk of receiving moronic abuse I think that Chris Husssey came from non-league
Correct he did, from afc Wimbledon. Yes he did not set the world alight here but he's managed to have a professional career for over 6 years so far. Could be seen as a success
Well rated at Bury and a good attacking LB IMO
....Really think ccfc should look at some of the lesser known players in non league football, look at the success we've had with Chris stokes.
I can't disagree, but you seem to assume that city are not looking at non-league players. Mowbray and Venus seem to have their heads screwed on.
According to this newspaper piece were watching/watched a few. Let's hope so

In that it says that Nti is being 'looked at' by Coventry but it also says he has been learning from a person named 'Lee Hughes'. I doubt very much that Hughes would be 'putting in a good word' for us. I think many of those sites literally close their eyes and point to a club.
You use Peterborough as an example, yet they run their club by finding and selling these players, and while they provide short term success I agree, as soon as they are sold they have to start all overnight again. The money isn't reinvested in just player arrivals, they use it to run the whole club.
While I agree we need to look a thing non-league talent, it won't matter at all unless we keep hold of any gems we find, or reinvest the money we get from selling them? High under SISU it just won't happen
Kristian Dennis could be worth a punt
