Rob gurney said that the wins against Luton and boro were an inconvenience to doug and he's probably right
It was probably the manor of the defeat and the performance.
We do need some signings but for me it's also a tactical issue
Whilst I'm fully aware a new manager may do worse with same squad I am also v open to the idea that someone else comes in and does better than robins was with them
I agree there are, but it concerns me that King had clearly been lining up this decision for some time but doesn’t seem to know who his main target is. Vibes of what happened when Hamer left, we all kind of knew he was off months in advance.Eh, i seem to get lumped in with people that are 'happy' about this. I'm definitely not happy, i want us to be good. Under Robins would have been nice, but i certainly wasn't happy with the shite i was watching either, it was actually quite depressing, not to be dramatic about football.
There are people out there who can get better from this group of players. Let’s hope we find one.
exactly, I think it was far too early to sack Robins but I can see there are glaring tactical issues that need to be addressed and put rightOne thing I would add is things don’t have to be mutually exclusive and you’re either on the side of King or Robins.
It’s possible all you’ve written is true but also that King has made too many changes and pissed everyone off.
I think robins probably had an idea his time was up .. people picked up on his demeanor and I hadn't really .If the stories are right and King vetoed Chris Ramsay then that would make sense.
I get that but imo it's not what I see on the pitch. By that I mean I still dont feel we make lots of chances. Well not on a dominating fashion anyway. I never really see us carve teams apart well not at least consistently.Well sure that's a possibility , but we've been creating chances all seapon and mostly been very wasteful even when weve played poorly . these things are the part of the reason robins is out of work right now .
The 2 conceded last night were so shit and typical of this team , complete bullshit flukery
Fair point, although I don’t know if King is competent enough to have that in place. We did, after all, announce we were looking to bring in a new assistant manager in summer, posted a job advertisement and then promoted two coaches from within and said we weren’t going to appoint an assistant manager after all. Doesn’t scream joined up recruitment thinking. If that's the case then why isn't there a replacement lined up immediately?

I understand the stats may say different but I'm looking forward to us playing a better style of football that makes creating chances and scoring goals a reoccurring theme in every game
He’s seems a bit off all season and I put it down to losing his mum but on reflection it probably started before that.I think robins probably had an idea his time was up .. people picked up on his demeanor and I hadn't really .
They didn't, they came in later. Presumably recovery.Just repeating what others have said on this forum, that the players have got the day off today.
Tbf he might have someone lined up. How quickly the appointment takes will probably be a good clue as to whether he has someone in mind or whether he's making it up as he goes along.I agree there are, but it concerns me that King had clearly been lining up this decision for some time but doesn’t seem to know who his main target is. It not about fans who accept it , it's about the fans who wanted it .
Let's face it robins was given little wiggle room by a few on here this season, I question how long these same people will give a new man .. including you
Hopefully means its Carsley so he has to wait for him to finish England duty.Tbf he might have someone lined up. How quickly the appointment takes will probably be a good clue as to whether he has someone in mind or whether he's making it as he goes along.
Seen some batshit takes today. People can be annoyed and sound off, but I've seen everything from 'i'm ripping up my season ticket' to 'hope we get relegated'. I doubt they mean it, but still, steady on, no need to get hysterical.
It's a real shame all this, but we go again. DK has taken a massive gamble, it might go south, but to almost wish for that, for future 'i told you so' credits, is a bit odd.
I always thought similar with Strachan, in that his players were motivated and galvanised because of the respect they had for him as a player (still the best player on the pitch at nearly 40). And as new, younger and often foreign players were signed, they saw him just as a shouty ginger man.I have always said Robins is a very odd manager in that he seems to work best under an unstable and difficult ownership base.
He seems better at motivating and galvanising players who are not established at the level they are used to operating in and a "all together mentality"
The players now have left. He clearly is struggling to galvanise the signings over the last two years. A lot has been spent on players who cannot even get in the team and very few will realise the purchase value at resale let alone make more to spend on new recruits.
Its pretty obvious he has run his course and the ideas are becoming less. I suspect he worked better with a lower league set up and cannot adjust to modern football models.
Timing is odd, statement not that respectful but such is football.
Missed that from grendelagree 100%
You are being short sighted.
We have a talented young squad on the pitch and off it we hire analysists etc plus sorting training facilities out.
We're in a good position to kick on now and perhaps a new manager will get the best out of the squad this season let alone long term?
It’s been discussed on other threads - only meaningful thing you can do is dress it up as him leaving by mutual consent, and I’m really surprised that isn’t what’s happened. This is a genuine question, how do you sack somebody nicely?
Only 4 teams have scored more goals this seasonI hope you're right , we've only scored more goals than last season once since 1978

Imagine if it came out they had approached someone before they announced the sacking. If that's the case then why isn't there a replacement lined up immediately?

Plus you would probably want any new manager to come in after the Sunderland game anyway.
That’s what I’m sayjngGive them the international break.
Douse yourself?I've just been and bought a Gillette and some Olive Oil in protest.
Douse yourself?
I said to my brother immediately as the new broke that it was odd that it was announced as a sacking. Don’t often see that these days, especially for managers with as much credit in the bank as Robins. Would suggest to me a disharmonious ending with either King wanting to send a message about who’s in charge, or Robins not agreeing to ‘sugarcoat’ his departure. It’s been discussed on other threads - only meaningful thing you can do is dress it up as him leaving by mutual consent, and I’m really surprised that isn’t what’s happened.
I don’t think Robins would have agreed to that. It’s been discussed on other threads - only meaningful thing you can do is dress it up as him leaving by mutual consent, and I’m really surprised that isn’t what’s happened.
I have avoided nothing. You avoided my question. I’ll ask again. What about this set up is providing results you wish to sustain?
You don't, but you can show tremendous gratitude for the brilliant job a manager has done and the achievements under his tenure. This is a genuine question, how do you sack somebody nicely?
