Talking of Oggy, he made what I still think are the best saves I've ever seen in a live game, vs Spurs at home in 1996 (the same season as the last day win there).

It was a brilliant double save at the West End, I think from a corner.

Plenty on here wanted him out and thought of him as not up to standard. @CovisGod @torchomatic @Otis @bawtryneal @Terry Gibson's perm @stevefloyd @no_loyalty @Houchens Head @Gazolba

I haven’t changed my view I still wouldn’t be sad to see that part of the coaching squad refreshed, Burge has improved is that through experience or training but his distribution is still dreadful and reminds me of Oggy he kicks it high and not far.
Come on now TGP, I have to disagree with that. Regardless of whether Oggy is a factor is of course up for opinion, but Burge's kicks have improved massively in length and accuracy. He still has the odd wayward one, but like the rest of his game this is definitely heading in the right direction.

I am humbled you approve, I was going to say oodles but opted for the aforementioned reams :)
Oodles is the sort of thing your great auntie Flora would say though.

No-one says oodles any more.

Apart from when you just did then.

And then me.

It started from a very low base, if you watch when he rushed it just goes up and up.

I can’t deny he has improved but some of that will be confidence after a good year in the bottom league

Fun fact: Oggy uses goalie gloves instead of oven gloves and often throws piping hot jacket potatoes at his wife while reminding her that she "couldn't catch a cold".

We have allowed Burge 3 years of garbage performances - if he’d been released when RCC was where would he be now? Washing cars I’d guess

Says the guy who claimed Wilson was a one season wonder in league one. Where’s he now?

Burge is at his level and always was. His improvements have moved him from bottom of the league to top though. Arguably he’s been one of our best players this season and arguably he’s one of the best keepers currently in the league. If he’d been released he’d still be at this level and someone would have got a very good keeper for this level for free. We’re lucky to have him and he’s clearly reaching the potential that managers have seen in him. Hence, they didn’t release him. I’m going to go out on a limb here and state that Mark Robins, Tony Mowbray and Stephen Pressley who all played football at the highest levels know more about what makes a good keeper than you.

Back to Oggy he has had a good innings as a coach I’m not qualified to say whether he is any good but our keepers have been shocking under his realm.
I do know he is a miserable c**t when he is out socially and met him both professionally and socially and I would not talk to him if we were the only two people in the pub.
You can only take people as you see.
