As a Southend fan living in Plymouth with nothing else to do I took a day trip up to Manchester one wet day in October 1982 to see the Sky Blues at Maine Road. I have just posted up a couple of old pics I took at that time on the facebook page of my new book Roots To The 92. One shows Cov in their iconic red strip of the time - a nightmare for folk who used to paint subbuteo players.
