It's a very good film. But the longest film I've ever saw. Think it goes on for three hours and 45 minutes. Had to watch on two sittings.

Mean Streets is an underrated film.

Not Scorcese but a Bronx Tale is decent as well.

Yep Cagney and Edward G Robinson made some great films

Not on a par with the films mentioned in the op, but State of Grace (Sean Penn, Gary Oldman) is a decent gangster flick.

The Drop (James Galdofini's final work) has a similar subject matter, not an epic like some of the others but worth watching.
