Just read (bbc website) that a Birmingham head teacher has been threatened for allowing LGBT equality lessons at her school....
Sorry. Muslim parents.By who?
The issue is a percentage of muslims take their stupid god book to seriously......It’s a disgrace she’s having to face what’s she’s facing. She should be highly commended for what she is doing. What’s the issue?
I know i was surprised and impressed too.......As the thread title reads is all i'll say.....Impressed with MP Jess Phillip's response to one of the agitators, telling him he didn't get to choose which equality issue he could reject/support. I expect a lot of the chattering classes are turning themselves inside out on this one.
Also the irony of the Muslim guy saying he was worried about his children being indoctrinated with a false morality.

Mmmmmmm interesting opinion. Those protesting have hand over their ears and refuse to open their eyes to realise what’s being delivered. Immoral to teach that we all matter and all have a right to live without prejudice. FfsAnd Christians too. All religions do the same thing, let's not pretend it's just a Muslim thing.
That's why I mentioned Alabama. And Christians too. All religions do the same thing, let's not pretend it's just a Muslim thing.
Know what you mean but when I listened to what was actually being taught - It was simply about appreciation of difference and that everyone matters.I am stuck in the middle on this.
It would be good if all parents taught their children on the subject when their children are ready. But many won't. But I don't think it should be down to teachers. My children have been brought up knowing people who are gay. They know it is normal. We even have a gay couple as neighbours. But my little girl was left worried after the lessons. She was left thinking that she wouldn't be able to have children herself because she might be gay. Is it right to put your children through that sort of thing at such an early age?
Childhood is short. It should be fun. They have enough to be worried about as they get older. Yes they need to know. But does this need to happen at such an early age?
That is why I said I am stuck in the middle. It isn't what is being said although we can't guarantee that it is always put forward in the same way. It is the age group of the children. All children are different. One shoe doesn't fit all.Know what you mean but when I listened to what was actually being taught - It was simply about appreciation of difference and that everyone matters.

And how about religious beliefs? I am not religious. But that doesn't mean that I shouldn't consider those who are. Can you imagine religious parents and having a child of 7 or 8 coming home thinking they could be gay?
My wife always wanted a child of hers to be gay and the more camp the better. But she didn't want an 8 year old coming home that was suddenly questioning herself because of what a teacher had said.
Why would you want your child to be gay? Seems a bit odd. Nowt wrong with them being gay but seemingly actively wishing they were is a bit weird to me.

And I don't agree with the latest craze of having gender neutral children. Let them be who they want to be but don't push them in any sort of direction. A boy is a boy and a girl is a girl. All my boys have played with girls things and my girls have played with boys things. The one not to mess with out of all of them is the eldest daughter. Let them make their own choices. There was a lad in my daughter's old class, he would go in from about 3 or 4 years old with nail varnish on and would go to parties in princess dresses. He had absolutely no idea about it but the mum would push it as much as she could. Poor kid is probably messed up by now with what's being forced onto him.

I think it is a culture thing as much as a religion thing to.My wife is a woman. They are strange creatures :wideyed:
It was partly so she would always have someone to go clubbing with in gay nightclubs. Can't fault her there. One of my all time favourite night clubs was Rockshots in Newcastle. It wasn't a night out. It was party time. Everyone being who they are and not pretending to be who they are not. We also have several kids and grandkids so no problem there.
But to me it is simple. As long as they are happy I am happy.

My missus has said if our daughter ever came out as being gay she would disown her.

Yet I know a few Russians - one from Voldograd actually and they are a fairly liberal bunch
I think you just happen to know a minority. Watch Reggie Yates “Extreme Russia” truly shocking.
I have been a few times as well and I find actually there are far more cultural similarities with them than most European countries
I saw the documentary but that’s no different than someone spending a few weeks with Tommy Robinson and his followers and portraying them as normal examples of uk society
They are very loyal and did for a while believe the Russian line on the Salisbury incident (and as they pointed out so did Mr Corbyn) but in the end had to admit it was they that done it
Yep, seen other stuff on treatment of the LGBT community in Russia and some of it is quite shocking.I wouldn’t be so sure. Anybody on that program that was LGBT were saying the abuse was pretty standard across Russia. I doubt you would interview many Muslims in this country who would claim that every interaction that they’d had with white people or just non Muslims was like having an interaction Stephen and his cronies. That’s the difference.
I will cross you off the list of potentials then, Hill.I genuinely couldn’t be with someone like that.
Yeah you can stop hiding in the wardrobe now. It's offI will cross you off the list of potentials then, Hill.
Here's how to deal with such a thing.
If I had have been it would have been with a six pack and a congratulortry medal.Yeah you can stop hiding in the wardrobe now. It's off
tbh I didn't see it as left or right. That’s the difference between left and right. It’s not a coincidence that the majority of comedians are left leaning. Seems to me the more right leaning you are the bigger your sense of humour transplant has to be and the angrier you have to be.
