Depending on the budget for next season it could be used better elsewhere with a half decent GK backup brought in which we would need.
He has improved massively and deserves the chance of the number 1 spot.

At 22 he is still a long way off his prime (as a keeper) and has shown both positive and negative attributes which you would expect from a keeper of his age. At this stage in his career, being the number two and pushing for a first team place would be beneficial for him, he's had a taste of first team football and now fully understands the level he needs to be at. Honestly I would go back in for Joe Murphy, doing fuck all at Huddersfield and surely he would rather be playing games at this stage of his career. Wouldn't surprise me however if he hooked up with Robins again at his old club Scunthorpe.

We also shouldn't forget about Reice Charles-Cook, who should be given a go at some stage.

So why do we need a better keeper sort out the defence and the errors they make and a mediocre keeper as Grendel calls him will be enough.

He kept us in the game today after 2 defensive errors, had a good game yet again in my opinion.

Beginning of the season he was punching every cross and never looked in the right position now he dominates in the air from crosses and is getting better each week.

Probably had his best game yesterday. Made 2 good saves at the beginning of the second half. Also did well with a couple of clearances when the defenders were struggling. Ideally I would like a better keeper for next season.

He gives me cold sweats when he's trying to usher the ball out of play
Every match I've seen him attempt that he's Unconvincing and If IIRC one of theirs whipped It across the goal today in such a scenario so something to work on there
Think there was also an effort which landed just over the bar which he left
In fairness to him his confidence has surprised me a tad and I thought a few weeks ago we definitely required some experience In the GK position

I think he's a better goalie than many give him credit for. He's not without faults but they're coachable. His has great natural attribute's and is growing in confidence all the time which is improving his game.

I'd like to see him start next season with a strong 2nd on the bench pushing him forward and a decent backline giving him some protection.

Thing is we need another goalkeeper anyway so should we go for an established keeper as number one or show faith in Burge who although may be a some way from the finished article has certainly done a lot better than perhaps we all expected. We are only allowed so many loans so do we waste a loan on a goalie or give Burge a chance to establish himself. The ideal scenario is pick up an old pro as back up to him but they ain't cheap. Think with a decent defence in front of him I would give him the chance to be number one

Thought he did well yesterday but makes me nervous.....we have him for the run in anyhow so would certainly keep him no 1 for rest of season.
Personally would like us to get a more ex[erienced no1 for next season but would not be end of world if we start next year with Burge getting games can only
improve him!

He gets some unfair stick, after the free kicks against Port vale an Bradford you would have thought he had done two howlers and the ball had slipped through his fingers from the reactions on here.

That said I don't think he's good enough for a promotion chasing team which is what we should be

I wasn't there on Saturday as I was working, but apparently he had a good game. Whether or not I would have thought he had a good game is a different matter. I think people still have it in their head that because he is young and has been "chucked in the deep end" that is a valid excuse for some of his downfalls.

Allsop never filled me with confidence, but he was definitely better. Jones isn't even first choice for Preston and he was miles better.

Average at best. That is it.

He had a good game sat, 2 good saves and a few good takes. And only 2 punts direct into touch and 1 direct to their keeper. ;-)

Yes I sincerely believe that this lad has, virtually game by game improved beyond recognition from when he first started.

Still room for much improvement but signs are encouraging.

Weaknesses include:

* erratic kicking out from hands
* risk of booking for slow play
* dead ball (free kicks positioning)

Strengths:

* excellent shot stopper
* commanding in area
* young enough to listen and learn

So i would defo keep him at the very least as No:1 for this season and possibly a punt for next season also.

Come on ........ you must be joking .......... commanding in the area?! How often is there a mix-up between him and the defenders?!

Young enough to listen and learn - if that is a strength then god help us.

Regarding Leigh Burge how many goals he has let in that are down to any mistakes ? Might have set a wall up wrong for one and then theres his moment of madness v Worcester not really an exact goalkeeping mistake, but it seems to me the last few games he has handled okay and has made some crucial very good saves. Not too fussed about kicking or wasting a bit of time. He has a lot to learn and needs to develop his game but if I compare him to that Alsop bloke we had well there is no comparison he was totally crap.

Not joking - keepers take time to mature and develop - he has either got it or not - I believe in time he will make a very good League 1 keeper from the evidence so far.

A Westwood or Murphy he is not but he will be a useful asset to CCFC for sure.

So apply the same measure then - how many goals were down to mistakes by Allsop?

He is nearly the same age as Westwood when we signed him.
